How would you remove this blemish?

Why is everyone filing and removing metal? Find a good MIG welder, fill it and file it to shape. It's not an original. If it was I'd say leave it alone after stabilizing the rust.

    Aging fake ivory grips ??

I use an old Fry Daddy for hot oil flattening of horns, filled with cooking oil. IIRC the oil has to be about 300 degrees but you have to watch it carefully. If it gets above 330 you're going to have french fried horn. I lost a nice little primer horn I was trying to flatten because I went to...

    Elk Ivories

I would use them to decorate my pouch flap or powder horn strap. Maybe a leather ball bag.

    Thompson Center PA Hunter questions

I used to have one. The barrel was a QLA which meant the first 3 inches from the muzzle was relieved with no rifling to load easier. Was not very accurate. Sent out back to T/C for a non QLA replacement. Accuracy was much better but not as good as my home builds using Rice and Colerain barrels...

    Can't Remove Breech Plug!

    1. Make sure the barrel sets out far enough so that you're not clamping the breech threads 2. Make a witness mark if the barrel/ plug doesn't have one. 3. Heat barrel until warm, not too hot. 4. Use a breech wrench or a wrench with jaws that fit the outside of the plug and give the...

    Zelle or PayPal

Yep. I've seen the posts from people who have been scammed by some one asking for Zelle and PP. Like I said alarm bells went off when I read Zelle. I've always used Postal MO's and never had a problem, I also use PayPal but not for firearm related purchases. A friend of mine got scammed...

    Zelle or PayPal

I thought PayPal doesn't allow firearm sales so there is no protection if something goes wrong. Postal money orders are protected by federal law IIRC. I might be wrong.

    Zelle or PayPal

When I see requests for these payment options from a seller concerning a firearm, it sets off alarm bells in my head. IMHO the best payment option for both buyer and seller is a USPS money order. Has any one ever successfully used these options without getting ripped off?

Pre-inlet stock a good idea for a beginner?

I will add my vote for not getting the lock inletted. My last build used a precarve from Pecatonica with the Colerain swamped barrel inlet and the RR hole drilled. Very easy people to deal with and I was able to place the lock exactly where I wanted it.

The words "Hollywood" and "historically accurate" do not belong in the same sentence together. Hollywood entertains, it does not inform.

    Fired or un fired??

If it's a gun made in the 1770's and unfired, to me it would be worth more unfired......... If it's a gun made in the 2020's , the value is the same to me, fired or unfired......... It's not an antique so the value is not determined by use as long as it's made with good parts and assembled in a...

    french parlor gun???

I don't think it's a parlor pistol. They were typically 4-6 mm made to use a small charge of powder indoors. You wouldn't want a .58 ball bouncing around your parlor. 😁 I'm going to lean towards it being a dueller. In my limited experience I think most European target pistols were around...

    AquaFortis ?????

On the last rifle I built, I wanted to highlight the yellow undertones so I used aniline dye on the stock before applying the Aqua Fortis. I got a big surprise when I applied the AF, thank goodness I tried it on a piece of scrap first or I might have slit my throat with the results.

    English Rifle

Nice looking rifle! You'll like the late Ketland lock. I used it on my last build and it is fast! I think Chambers uses the same internals on his Siler lock.

SOLD Navy Arms 12ga SxS Shotgun

The old pot metal bridles can be replaced with the Pedersoli bridles from the newer double shotgun. VTI has them listed at $44.10. I have an old Pietta that broke the right bridle and made a new one from stock using hacksaw and files and a drill press. It's not hard to do........... Items 13...
