    Cleaning between shots

Carry a small bottle of water or blue washer fluid or windex, something liquid. Next time you get a patch stuck in the bore, dump an ounce of fluid down on top of the patch and let soak for 30 seconds. Work the rod up and down and you will be able to pull the jag and patch free. Dry the bore and...

Yes, Id llike to know if that is the case. Seems like it would just be an empty plastic bottle with a label. If there is no powder, would it be hazmat? Hang on to it

    Empty Scheutzen bottles?

Anyone have any empty Schuetzen powder bottles in good condition with good labels on them I could buy or trade from you? I would like at least one labeled 2F and one 3F. 2 of each would be even better.

My owners manual says 100gr 2F max for roundball. That's where I start and go down 5 grains at a time.

    Bulk lead source on line???

I had someone give me about 100 pounds of it in blocks so Im good but I'm told that roofers scrap many pounds of lead from flashings and liners. I'd contact one or more of them. You would have to melt and clean it though.

    Fowler expectations with round ball

Ive see guys hit a beer can at 50 yards with a smooth bore. It depends on what the gun shoots well and if you can shoot it well. You have to work on different loading techniques and try different materials. Once you get it diald in, you should be able to get good accuracy. Watch Mike Beliveau's...

    Ramrod Finish

I like to darken the grain with flame and then rub in 12-15 coats of Watco Danish oil. Every time I clean that gun, Ill rub in another coat.

New to black powder. Looking for accessories or necessities

When you find an item you like or that helps you load, clean, or maintain your gun, buy 3 or 4 of them as your budget permits. It never hurts to have extras of things.

Standard thread size for ramrods and attachments.......

On my homemade rods, I have one end 8-32 thread and one 10-32. I also keep one of each adapter (and a shotgun adapter) in the tackle box. Never know what you might need.

For patch lube, Im gravitating to water/Ballistol 5:1 mose milk. For wiping the bore, same stuff but 9:1. Patches just damp.

Curved buttstock placement on the arm/shoulder..........

Now shooting off the bench is a different deal. One may not be able to get their body in a good enough position to mount the crescent butt correctly and if that is the case, they may be getting the butt too much into the shoulder and yes, they will get beat up by it. I have had to sit...
