    # 11 Caps available

I still have over 1500 of the 4000 Remingtons I bought from Walmart in 1989 for 4.99 a box. Gave 1000 to a friend. Sorry, just my $0.02

Gave in to the nervous nannies

I hope these people had their privileges revoked and were removed from the community as they should have been. They do not belong in public with firearms.

Gave in to the nervous nannies

For the life of me, I fail to see how a freshly shot muzzleloader will blow the back of your head off if you blow down the barrel. Call me stupid but someone should explain that one to me. I don't know how many hundred times I have done it and I am still around. I think it's a good way to clear...

    Carrying pre lubed patches

Always keep your gun loaded in the field. Regret for missing an opportunity is way tougher than figuring how to clear the load when the hunt is over. I know from experience.

So, what do you consider to be "good lube"?

    Broken rod

I had a jag stuck in the bottom of my .54 barrel. Fortunately, I work at a tractor repair shop. I used the shop air hose and blow gun with a rubber tip on it. Removed the nipple, pushed the tip into the hole and hit the lever. The jag came flying out across the shop and dented an aluminum...

what do you use when swabbing between shots?

I used to use Windex or blue WWF. Now, I have a small bottle of "moose milk" which I make with Ballistol and water. 7 parts water to 1 part Ballistol. I also use that when I am done shooting to do a basic clean of the bore and wipe down the exterior metal. Swabbing between shots (3 shots) the...

    Granddaddy of Production Muzzleloaders?

The only brands I ever saw in gun shops and stores were CVA and TC here in upstate NY. Once in a great while you might see something from Investarms (cabela's).

I made a noobie mistake on cleaning rod -- Range rod for PA long gun

We have had metal and synthetic ramrods for so long now that old wives tales about broken ramrods and impaled hands from wooden rods are rampant. Most of them are just that, old wives tales and made-up stories. I'm sure it has happened but if you listen to some guys, you'll start believing that...

Yes, I agree. Yes, it is. I use that at the range before going home. I keep a small bottle in my kit.

    T/C Hawken Patchbox?

I picked up a used one to refurbish. The patchbox door hangs open about 1/8- 3/16 inch. what is the best way to correct this so it closes tightly? Thanks.

Muzzleloading ... don't let THIS happen to YOU!

Get a gallon jug of Evap-O-Rust and put the lock in a big jar of that. It will remove that rust and not hurt the metal.

    How did you get hooked?

My dad's mother was widowed long, long ago. When I was a young teen, she met a nice old man who, as it turned out, built muzzleloaders by hand. He was also into ML Benchrest competition and had 2 or 3 guns around he had built. I was fascinated by them and would fondle them whenever we would go...

    St. Louis Hawken recoil

Are you absolutely sure your measure is set to 50 grains and not, like, 150 or something crazy? Stupid question I know but stranger things have happened. Something is definitely wrong somewhere. Get it figured out before something really bad happens. Are you normally overly sensitive to recoil...
