    Ned Robert's Book?

Bob, I have one. I just haven't found much about what I am looking for, or maybe I have found all that I will on that topic.

At what point to stop cleaning?

I stopped using tap water, of any temperature, long ago. I swab the bore a bit with Ballistol and bottled water (moose milk) at the range to knock out a lot of gunk. At home I use a plastic bucket and put in 4 oz Murphy's soap and a gallon of blue windshield washer fluid, room temperature. I...

    Simon Says "Do This"

I once got in trouble for having a 24 inch by 1 inch oak dowel in my front seat as personal protection. Not allowed to have clubs, saps, or pocket rocket slingshots in NY state. It's not a free country anymore.

    Ned Robert's Book?

If you have read Ned Robert's book The BP Caplock Rifle, do you recall seeing what he recommended for patch or bullet lube? I was curious and did a bunch of reading and only saw "sperm oil", but I didnt read the whole thing.

Which side to carry possible bag and powder horn

I shoot from the right shoulder but I can do most everything else with either hand so... That doesn't answer your question though does it?

How Do You Fill a Horn?

I make a tightly rolled cone from a paper shopping bag. I let it "uncoil" just a bit to form a funnel and trim 1/4 inch off the end for a small hole. Put a piece of tape on the seam.

    Range Rod advice

Years ago, Thompson/Center offered a yellow synthetic rod with a big ball at the top and an the rod was very smooth and slick. Very easy to wipe off after use. I sold mine with a rifle to sweeten the deal. Wish I had not done that. It was a good rod. I think the TOW stainless ones with the rod...

    Ballistol is top notch... not!

Can you explain to me how this could even remotely be possible? Suffice to say, I dont believe you.

    Ballistol is top notch... not!

I was getting worried we weren't going to get a Ballistol discussion this week. There is nothing that works great for everything.

Traditions is the "Harbor Freight Tools" of Muzzleloading?

Did we mention that some people cant afford more expensive guns?! HMM? I think it bears repeating. I was one of them. CVA AND Traditions are responsible for getting a ton of folks into shooting black powder.

Traditions is the "Harbor Freight Tools" of Muzzleloading?

From what I have seen, I'd rather have a traditions gun than a CVA. Just sayin.

    Simon Says "Do This"

Check your state laws about concealed blade length and legality of 2-edged blades. That would be a no-no here in NY

Rocks are more reliable than caps

Haha! This gave me a good chuckle! Way to stir the pot looking for a debate. Slow day at your place? Have no fear, Spring will soon be here and we can all get out more often to shoot our guns, bows, and go fly fishing.

lead round balls, are they really round?

Seems like so many shooters have the mistaken notion that powder needs to be compacted as hard as possible when in reality, just snug is fine. You just have to remove the air gap.
