    SOLD Smith Carbine

They slip right out with no problem. I’m using a .518 bullet with 35 grains of 2F. Apologies for turning this into an informational thread. Any folks interested in a Smith Ive both a Sharps and a Burnside, hands down the Smith is a lot less problematic and more accurate than the Burside.

    Dirty .45.

The saying is a pound is a pound. Here in the states all black comes in 1 pound containers. A pound of 4F has the same stored energy as a pound of 2 or 3F. One assumes you reduce by volume to compensate.

I’m guilty, open a thread read the preamble then jump to the end with my own comments. With out reading several other posts. 😒

Well it is a muzzle loader.

Goes bang and throws a lead projectile so it’s ok in my book. Never been one to limit myself in life's selection of tools or toys.

FFFFFFFFFpowder????? I just have to laugh

Been around guns since I was a little tyke, black powder types for only 15 or so, handloading for 50, cast bullets for 30 or so. No expert but was fairly efficient at it before the miracle of the internet. Learned by reading every book on the subject I could find and the practical application...

FFFFFFFFFpowder????? I just have to laugh

I’ve always been under the impression that the old adage “ There’s no such thing as a dumb question” applies pretty much across the board regardless of topic.

USPS has direct service tween those points. 😁

Newbie to MLF with a new pistol So beautiful I'm reluctant to fire it

What ever that cylinder is plated with, doubt it’s brass, is going to be effected by the hot gases and gun powder residue. Guaranteed it’s not going to remain pristine. On brass frame revolvers it’s character on that cylinder tacky. Having said that I’d be inclined to obtain a plain Jane...

Going from wheel weight to pure ML lead. ¿Possible?

I lay odds as a patched ball or bullet there are applications where the harder projectile would out perform the pure lead. The only problem I’ve encountered with hard cast round balls in revolvers is the strain put on the loading lever in pressing them home. Loaded off gun with a press they are...

Going from wheel weight to pure ML lead. ¿Possible?

Pack a “if it fits it ships” USPS box with ingots. Weight it then PM me with that weight. With pure lead that’s generally 50 or so pounds I’ll pay you $2 a pound. 😁

Anyone shooting paper cartridges in 36 & 44 caliber?

Those are vinyl tubes that have thinner tops that will hold 44 caliber projectiles of various diameters powder capacity is up to 40 grains. 44 caliber are yellow 36 caliber white. Pre-filled at home a real time saver on the firing line.

Anyone shooting paper cartridges in 36 & 44 caliber?

If your referring to the two blocks. The left are finished cartridges, like those in my hand and the right block just the paper tubes. The blocks each have a matching lid with holes that secure the rounds. Used the raw as that’s what came with the kit. The tubes as made are for a heeled...
