Lyman .54 GPR hunter signature series 1-24" twist

You might try paper patching the bullets.

    Lead melting temp

It has to do with expansion of both the mould and the lead.

    Lead melting temp

I did it for years. If the bullets' or RBs don't fill out turn up the heat, if it takes too long for the lead to solidify, turn the heat down. If the RBs come out frosty, turn it down. By the way frosty doesn't hurt a thing. You will get the hang of it and figure out what works best for you.

    45 PRB load

It depends on the abilities of the shooter. A good stout load that shoots accurate, 100y max.

Defarbing a TC or the like

I have heard of people carefully peening the lettering before filing so you wouldn't have to file so much.

I do believe someone sells nipples with oversized threads just for cases like this. Maybe Track of the Wolf.

Need shooting advice, look at these patches, please.

Equal grain to caliber is usually a good starting place but small calibers and pistols, half a grain is better. I wouldn't call 40 small, more like one the edge of smallish. Dropping some wouldn't hurt, see how it does. I wouldn't exactly call 40gr a hot load either.

    DUDE, SMOKED HIM!!!???

When I see hunting video's( and I don't really watch them) I think of the movie Funny Farm where there is someone out of sight that lets a deer loose.:D

He hasn't stated the load or how it is shooting. I think the way the patches are frayed, he is shooting heavy loads but can't tell for sure.

    percussion caps

Some guns have trouble with substitute powders and mag primers can help with that.

    RB past 50 yards?

You need to know where exactly you will hit at 100y anyway and likely 75 or so anyway so there is no telling until you do it.

You need this and don't know it

    I just use GoldenRods.

Should I rebarrel or keep as is

I started with a 45 went to bigger, then went to a 32 to economize and then the 36. Now I'm liking the 45 again. Point is you wants and needs usually change over the years, You might want to set it aside for another time.

Hunting in California the snti-lead state.o

If you can get Zink WWs that could be and idea. Lead WWS are hard to find these days and often made of zink.

Walmart or Home Depot has lead detection kits. Probably any hardware store.

    Cast your own, shrinkage?

Lead with any alloy in it, will cool .001/2 larger. Are you sure your lead is pure? The Lyman usually run smaller than advertised if not right on, because of the cherry cutter wear.

    GOEX PLANT

I'm hoping one of the overseas manufacturers will take over the GOEX plant but I really don't know if it would be feasible for them to do or not.
