Rob, Really like the 1st picture of your blanket gun ... I am assuming it's one that you built. If you plan to build a similar unit in the near future, please let me know I would be interested in giving it a nice home. W. ZEE
Where is the pistol barrel. Am I missing something ... is it just a stage prop. If there is actually a working pistol what caliber , etc.
Wife has a bad back she could use the cane. But I wouldn't trust her with a knife up close, with a gun I be pretty save since she can't hit the barn...
Finally got out to shoot my new to me Flintlock, First pull of the trigger sparks but no ignition .... bang nada, second pull and we were off to the race.
Not much to say about loads etc. First time shooting a flintlock. It's missing its rear sight, so need to get that on so I can hit the...
Olut, Received the spring a few days ago. However, seems my customers wanted to clear their shelfs of materials for work in progress. Naturally they expect completed work back when the holidays are over, so I've been busy. Spent time today on the lock. Had the same problem with both...
Thanks for the replies. I took it off the rifle today to clean and oil. It looks very well made and it sparks great. Now need to find some 4f powder. Will try Bob Roller on the offer forums. So far, this is the only one I have been on. Have A Great Holiday! W.Z
Just received my first flintlock which I will be taking pictures and adding further discussion of in the future. However, to begin with I would like to find out more about the lock which appears to have the name "Roller" stamped on it. The first R is half gone but I don't believe it is...
Thanks Oult and Grimord for your responses. It does appear the spring is too short and keeps popping out of the bridle circle when the hammer is pulled back plus the spring doesn't really sit in that "L" shaped backing very well.
We never know what the previous owner might have changed or if it...
OLUT, Thanks I would appreciate the spring and will E-mail you my address. Did You have trouble with the spring jumping out of location. I thought maybe the 5th hole above the spring keep it in place but your picture shows it isn't used. I agree it seems like a really simple lock design ...
Just purchased a Numrich swivel Breech double .45 Cal. However it was from an auction and sight unseen (I'll learn one of these days...). Yes, it's barrels are rusty etc, etc. but it might make a blanket gun project. Reason for this thread something is amiss in the lock. It's a simple...
Hit the key once too often at an online auction. So, I will soon be the proud owner of an over and under .45 Cal. Percussion rifle. Shoot once twist the barrel and take a second shot, .... if missing both times reload and try again. Winning price wasn't that bad but the auction % charged and...
Hatchet-Jack,
Thanks for the TOW suggestion. While I've owned a B/P revolver since my teen years I've only within the last 9 months or so started down the rabbit hole with a renewed interest in shooting B/P. I am well into my seventies so it's taken a while; but Iam making up for...
