    HOW LONG IS TOO LONG

I don't see a problem with that. I would not do it if spit patched and wouldn't go too long if it had been fired and reloaded without cleaning.

Why not Pyrodex in a flintlock?

That was a joke... in case anyone was wondering

Condensation on muzzleloader barrel in season cabin.

I would be. Could try vacuum pack with dessicants or mil spec vapor weapon storage bags etc. I'd worry as much about some guy, taking it home and taking very good care if it for himself. Wouldn't be such a big deal with an old something or other buried in grease and tucked under the cabins...

    Ramrod diameter and fit ?

Hard to beat a good Hickory rod and just enough bind to keep it secure is what you want. Wait and see if you need to do anything about the fit. I'll bet it just wears in. Spend your time finding a load it likes.

    Clean with paper towel?

I've been buying patches and using the same underwear. I might be due for a review of my current priorities. Bounty is tough enough for patch use if you need. I like tow cause you just wash it and reuse.

    4f powder

As I recall Larry Pletcher measured ignition speeds. Time differences are milliseconds. Less than lock time difference between an 03A3 and new benchrest railgun. 4F faster than 2F no question but I wouldn't want to bet real money on being able to tell 4F from 3F prime. Dealing with the inherent...

    Swiss, German, Goex?

Have you considered archery You only have to walk a couple of hundred yards at worst to pick up your arrows. 🙂 (Posted with all the genuine sympathy in the world for what you guys are going through. Hang in there)

    Swiss, German, Goex?

Well... that sure as heck snuck up on me. It also explains why my class reunions are full of old ugly wrinkled people. ..and to keep it appropriate for the thread: Whatever your rifle likes best (that can include preference for FFg vs FFFg as well as BP manufacturer). If you notice that all the...

Gained the favor of club owner towards ML's

I miss brass cases as well.. for those backwards loaders. You don't toss them aside carelessly and they sure are purty.

Gained the favor of club owner towards ML's

I actually miss paper hulls and wads of felt and cork.

    Sprue cut: Facing which way?

Just a comment on a valid reason to put pressure on the nose of a bullet.. Welcome to the forum.

    Sprue cut: Facing which way?

" ...most cast balls have small air voids in the sprue area below the surface. A cut cross section of the ball will show this". If you leave an adequate "button" over each cavity when casting it will provide a small amount of molten lead for long enough to prevent or severely reduce the size...

    Sprue cut: Facing which way?

Technically you can use special dies to bump the bore riding portion of a bullet to better fit your particular barrel bullet combination and increase accuracy (not a criticism just another fun fact comment). Do what works best for you. "Well, Jane, it just goes to show you, it's always...

Want to get into Muzzleloading and have a lot of questions so I figured I would post in this forum.

Welcome to the forum. I would recommend FFFg powder as useful from .32cal to at least .54/.58 cal if needed and it works well for the pan also. I would get some powder and bum or buy ball from your friends and have them let you handle and/or shoot their rifles and fowlers until you just flip out...

    Sprue cut: Facing which way?

I just deleted two well thought out and nicely worded posts that each took some time to compose. The 2nd was a bit snarkier than the first. Pretty much decided though that beyond powder first.. then the ball, it's sorta personal preference. Thought you'd like to know. Oh.. I do load sprue up...

Why not Pyrodex in a flintlock?

What is the ignition temp of lighter fluid.. oops... did I type that out loud? Probably shouldn't try that

    GOEX sold?

    Wiley Coyote Inc. I heard.

I can get as much of this as I want, is it lead?

Glad it worked so well for you. I watched that shipbuilder saw up his lead keel.

    Did I screw up ?

I once acquired a lovely Hudson Bay fringed blanket case for a rifle I had.. The case was just too long to use with the intended rifle so... I bought a rifle that fit the case... made sense to me, if not to my wife. It is a contagious affliction.

I can get as much of this as I want, is it lead?

With others comments on breaking down such huge pieces of lead... I could see standing by your trailer with a sawzall thinking.. "We're going to need a bigger boat" ala the movie, Jaws. The chips from a chainsaw would be easier to sweep up for sure. Consider making a documentary of how you...
