I think 3 weeks in 70 percent humidity to have them all fire is pretty darn good m

Pietta 1858 New Army Revolver .44 Cal 8" barrel

Just shoot what works for you. 454 is what pietta recomends and they seem to work fine. Anything more than 25g of T7 and I start getting loose screws.

    1858 truck gun.

I have been using an 1858 as a truck gun for the last year and a half. As long as I shoot it once a week and clean it it's been pretty reliable. Somehow I let 3 weeks slip by without shooting the 1858. It's been hot , muggy, rainy and humid here in the north east. Finally shot her last night...

    1858 Remington Brass real ?

I suspect I put about 1k rds through the 2021 brasser Bison. 25g T7 3f and .454 Rb. The two .36 cals that I shot out in the 70s were probobly navy arms? 1851 navy and the confederate one with the round barrel. that was all RB and real BP . I use the same spout to load my steel 2021 pietta 1858...

    1858 Remington Brass real ?

you can see the huge gap at the cylinder. It still shoots but days are numbered INMOP . if you just want a historicaly accurate spillier and Burr then by all means buy one but don't expect it to be a daily shooter. I have only about a thousands rnds through that .44 brasser. I burned out two .36...

    1858 Remington Brass real ?

so you heard on the internet that modern brass is plenty strong for a revolver frame... I heard the same crapola on the internet and forked out my money only because I could not find a steel fame at that time. My bad.. 2020 Italian brass ...

How fast can BP revolvers be reloaded?

I no longer own a shot timer but the only real way to settle this debate is with a shot timer. Look at the split time between your last shot on target then the reload from a pouch on your belt to the next hit on target. Not working off a bench. Has to be a hit on both ends to count. BINTD on a...

How fast can BP revolvers be reloaded?

if you think its a 50/50 split you are obviously missing something. there simply is no comparison. one you have to take the gun apart and keep track of four different parts. the other the cylinder just pops out and slides back in. if you actually know how to do it its almost effortless. I...

How fast can BP revolvers be reloaded?

if you can swap a colt cylinder faster than a Remington you are doing something wrong with the Remington. period.

How do you prep your C&B revolver for an outing?

my new go to lube is baristol. no more rem oil. I have noticed that rem oil leaves a shelac over time. keep any kind of lube way from caps as many lubes can render the caps inert.

Some Eye Candy : Cimarron 1860 "McCulloch Colt" Anyone Else?

I have always liked the history. read all of Bruce Catons books and many other history books when I was a kid. We did not have TV. I then of course got hooked on the dime novels. I have read every single Louie Lamoure book and most of them more than once. This is one of the key reasons I am...

Some Eye Candy : Cimarron 1860 "McCulloch Colt" Anyone Else?

all these pictures are making me want an 1860. I also want a sheriffs 1858 and will likely get that first. I don't antique them. I use em and carry em. I Don't buy bleached jeans with holes in them either.

Oh, Come On With the Inflated Caps!!

I have not tested the RWS standard caps but my experience with both my side hammer pistols is that I get slow ignition and lots of hang fires with CCI standard caps and T7 3f the standard caps work great in My revolvers. CCI magnums and RWS plus give me good ignition in my side hammer pistols...

    No Sights?

Apparently you guys misunderstood my post. My big beef with the 7 yrd standard is for defensive pistol in general. Not just Cowboy action. Its a really dumb way to train if that is your only game. We trained all distances from the paper catching on fire to 50 yrd head shots. Our IPSC...

    No Sights?

you can say 7 yards all you want but that is still not a valid excuse to not have basic marksmanship skills. In fact if you are going to carry you should not have basic skills but advanced skills. Cowboy action is Not based on real gunfighting skills it's based on the fantasy of the old west...

    No Sights?

I can tell from watching the videos that these guys and gals are dedicated, train hard and have tallent. Somehow the game they play went down a rabbit hole to the point where the targets are all stupidly big and it just looks silly. I have zero doubt that if they rescued the game and made the...

    No Sights?

Jerry Miculek can shoot a revolver just as fast as those guys and hit small targets with full power loads. . It can be done. They are cheating themselves. They have a tons of skill and have put the work in but they are in fact simply doing it wrong.

    No Sights?

But they are cheating the heck out of themselves and looking like fools for only having big targets up close. I do know a thing or two about shooting fast and accurately. I could not beat those guys with single action pistols because I do not have the time in with that system and not training...
