    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

if your friend was such a good shot why did he lose all those deer? maybe he was good on paper but not when it counted? you do not have any of the deer so you really don't know where the hits were. if a .22 lr will drop a deer in it's tracks how does a .357 not do the same with good shot...

    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

I suspect that your friend with the .357 did not have as good of shot placement as perhaps her thought he did,,,

    Maximum loads for 1858 Remington

So it seems like I need to buy the .450 mold. This game is getting more expensive by the min.

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

It's all about shot placement as long as you have the penetration to get it done. There are timers and switches just like knife fighting. A timer will bleed you out but not fast enough to keep you from doing damage. A switch is just what it sounds like. Central nervous system is the switch...

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

I just loaded up my 1858 with 220g lee conicals today. shot 48 of them. Absolutly nasty power compared to RB with the same 25g T7 total pain in the butt to load and shoot way high.

    Maximum loads for 1858 Remington

I shot my new lee .456 220g conicals today. not even a chance of seating them. I champherd my cylinders which helped but still the only way to get them started straight is with a leather mallet. they print about the same as RB out of ech respective cylinder, the one I keep on the gun shoots...

    Maximum loads for 1858 Remington

I just received a 220g .456 conical mold from lee. immediately cast 64 conicals. Its a LOT more lead usage than .454 RB! I have no idea how this is going to work?? On the Lee site it was sold as a conical specifically for .44 cap and ball revolvers. I don't have any real bullet lube yet but...

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

Some of you obviously have the Majic touch but personally I have half a million rounds down range with cartridge guns with perhaps a handfull of miss fires not counting jams in semi autos but actual failure of the cartridge. I have hundreds of no bang incidents with BP guns and its not just...

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

Trust me, I am not delusional enough to think this thing is as reliable as a modern cartridge gun. I do however think its pretty good with fresh loads and my actual threat level is green. If my threat level was orange I would have something modern handy and I would make sure my eotech has been...

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

I find the safest way to really know its going to go bang every time is shoot it dry once a week and re load fresh .

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

That's what I do. My spare cylinder is almost always perfect but the cylinder in the gun often has one or two bad caps after two weeks

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

how to you avoid rust if you don't oil your guns? a dry gun with no oil will rust in my climate..
  14. nick_1

    Keeping an 1858 loaded indefinitely

it depends on a lot of factors. mostly relative humidity and how good you are at keeping oil away from your caps. I keep an 1858 loaded and spare cylinder loaded in a leather pouch. the spare cylinder is almost always 100% reliable but the cylinder on the gun itself has a spotty record...

    Maximum loads for 1858 Remington

25g and two round balls will fit. Who's going to try it for us?

    Maximum loads for 1858 Remington

has anyone double balled these rigs? I have accidentally double charged both my .50 cal and .44 cal single shot pistols more than once each. no big deal. I suspect that the 2nd powder charge never ignited but acted as a cushion between balls. this could be replicated with a felt wad or some...

    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

Weak Verbal Ju Jitsu game... Some guys turn every situation into a fight. Some almost never fight. Quite often the one who diffuses the fight has less fear and the stronger character.

What has more effect on POI, muzzle velocity or recoil.

all I know is that .44 with a tiny short front sight shoots high as the sun. a bigger front sight makes it shoot lower. when I reduce a powder charge enough that it reduces recoil significantly it will lower my point of impact . is what it is.

    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

Dark Angle. you might not have good verbal Jui jitsu skills. some guys always escalate the situation. some almost never need to use force. A man who has the capacity for great violence and does not use it has stronger character than the man who resorts to violence easily.

What has more effect on POI, muzzle velocity or recoil.

seems pretty obvious that the reason we have tall front sights on magnum pistols is to help mitigate the effects of recoil induced muzzle rise.
