.44 or .45 barrel for Trapper pistol?

What you like is irrelevant. I like the trapper. For me I find that the weight helps keep it steady, the lock is decent and it stacks bullets. I like the lock and stock. I would love to find a barrel for it in .44 or .45 cal. for target shooting and keep my .50 cal barrel for hunting. If...

.44 or .45 barrel for Trapper pistol?

I shoot primarily pistol competition. biathlon and paper matches. I had great success with my Traditions .50cal Trapper but the recoil is enough that it hurts the arthritis in my hands. I got a very expensive Pedersoli Le page that I can shoot pretty well two handed but not very well one...

    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

I certainly do not feel under gunned with a 58 remi with a fresh cylinder in it. that tune might change if somone was coming after me with an M4 or 870.... but I would certainly take my 58 over any of those plastic sub compact .380s...

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

its ALL about shot placement. Charlie Beckwith survived a .50 cal hit to the abdomen that did not hit a vital. Gary flint took a bunch of .44mag to the stomach and lived. lots of other stories out there. .22lr in the right place beats.44 mag in the dirt every day. same thing with .36 over .44...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

Civil war sharp shooters were effective out to 1k yards and had really long scopes.

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

one of the guys on here used to post videos of hin shooting an 18 inch gong one handed at 100yrds with an ROA. I suspect he could do the same with a 51 navy if he was current with that pistol. 18 inches is a tad big though for a head shot.

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

I also really hate inaccurate and impassable stuff in movies and books but hitting a torso @100m with a 51 is absolutely doable for an exceptionably well trained pistolero. head shot would be a lot of skill and luck but a low percentage shot for an expert at that range. I forgot to mention...

    Colt 1851 Navy—120 yards?

when I was kid I used to shoot icicles off a cliff at about 100 yrds with my 51 navy. Easy swhooting as you could see your impacts and adjust. currently I regularly hit a 6inch steel plate at 60yrds with my single shot percussion pistols but no luck with my 1858 Remington's. crappy trigger...

Traditions Trapper Pistol. if you have one please respond.

Traditions has good customer service. Don't always have parts in stock but you get to talk to a real person. I never use the stock ramrod anymore. I bought a 12inch starter from track of the Wolf and keep that in my belt. One move loading.

Do you display your flintlock or other guns in your home

I have my hawken on the wall. It looks good there. when they broke in last winter they had Zero intrest in a musket hanging on the wall. they are looking for stuff they can turn into quick cash for drugs. trashed my place and stole a guitar and took 100 bucks in change. spent the bulk of their...

    1858 truck gun.

I shot my 58 this evening. Just six shots but ran flawless and rang the steel. It has been loaded about 10 days.

    1858 truck gun.

you are certainly in the minority. I have only been competing with Muzzle loaders for 4 years so only been to 25 or so matches.. I used to shoot about 50 matches a year with modern guns. IPSC, PPC, Bowling pins, 3 gun etc. also shot some trap occasionally. seen plenty of jams that required...
