How do I clean my Balls?

You can use as is or shoot them with WD40.

    Pietta 51 Navy bolt

Everything is deburred and polished to 600 grit. It works great now.

    Pietta 51 Navy bolt

I finally figured out how to fix my problem. If the metal on the arbor was upset by the little shooting I did then I thought it should be easy to upset it back. About 5 minutes of very light tapping on a 1/8 inch pin punch fixed it right up. A too lose wedge would also explain why I got a foot...

    Pietta 51 Navy bolt

Ok, Mike, I've never owned a Uberti so I'll take your word. Any suggestions about my problem. I've learned most of what I know about revolvers from duelist 1954 videos.

    Pietta 51 Navy bolt

The wedge is out. I always have to completely remove it to get the barrel off. I'm wondering if it's possible the wedge wasn't in tight enough and the slight forward movement of the barrel during firing could have upset a little metal at the front of the slot in the arbor. I've never heard of...

    Pietta 51 Navy bolt

No. The barrel does turn when it's free of the pins at the bottom. That's how you check for a short arbor on Uberties. Everything works like it should except the barrel and the arbor.

Tried that. It's like there is a mechanical blockage. The barrel slides easy for about half an inch and the there is a clanking noise. Also the barrel won't turn.

    Pietta 51 Navy bolt

More problems for the rookie. I finally got my pistol out today and put a few cylinders through it. It shot great although my group looked more like a pattern. I know Colts are supposed to shoot high, but mine looked like it was hitting 4 or 5 inches low at 25 yards. Now for my real problem. I...

    Pedersoli/Lyman Great Plains Kit

The touch hole is obviously too low. As others have said you can work around it, but why should you have to on a brand new gun you paid a lot of money for?

    Pietta 51 Navy bolt

I get the award for idiot of the day. My problem was obviously the trigger bolt spring. I kept trying to figure what was wrong with it. The answer was nothing. It was operator error. I only tightened the screw holding it down til it was snug. That put pressure on the trigger but not the bolt. I...

    Bought caps today

$11 hurt, but I had been looking for a long time with zero luck. That place is expensive, but they have everything. They had a brass '51 Colt Navy for about $100 more than I recently paid Taylor's for my steel one.

    Bought caps today

The Mountain Man shop in Manatou Springs, Co has a good supply of most sizes. I paid $11 a tin for CCI #11s.

    We Used To Be Relevant

I never was into modern guns but got into BP around 1979. I joined the NMLRA and subscribed to Muzzleloader and Black Powder Report. I have most of them cataloged in my basement. The quality of both Muzzle Blasts and Muzzleloader has increased dramatically in the past couple of years.

At that price they are probably brass, but it's still a great deal. Jump on it.

How Do You Fill a Horn?

I cut a hole in the cap of a powder can and cut the base off a 223 brass. Solder them together. You have a perfect no spill funnel.

    Double ended rod

At the range I use a range rod. For guns I build I put a tip matching the furniture threaded 10-32 on one end of the rod and one of a different color threaded 8-32 on the other end.

If You Could Design Your Own Shooting Range...

I always dreamed of having a small log cabin in the woods to hold get togethers and shoots. Set up for a woods walk and open area for 25, 50, and 100 yard ranges.

Cleaning a Barrel with a Threaded Breech Plug

Don't forget that these guns have been around for over 200 years. Back then people depended on them for their lives and only had water to clean with.
