    Drum to Lock fit…

That's what I thought when I built my only drum and nipple rifle, and I worked hard to do it, but I have since on this forum that they shouldn't touch.

    Patchbox engraving

    Me too.

    Furthering skills, any books recommended?

What Dave said is very important. I built my first flinter without ever having handled or even seen up close an original or a good reproduction. It looks great to the untrained eye, but the first time I showed it to someone who actually knew guns he correctly commented that I built it from...

Just because i wanted too 🙂

Guns of the West on YouTube just posted a video this week about this. He had a Walker cut off at the beginning of the barrel comparing it to a standard Walker shooting over a chronograph.

Buckhorn rear site for TC Hawken

I hated the TC Hawkin sights. I put on a silver blade front sight and dovetailed in a buckhorn rear a little farther away than the original to accommodate aging eyes and loctited the screws in their holes and filed them smooth.

    Where do you start?

There is some good stuff on YouTube like the grumpy gunsmith, but he is so far beyond me it's ridiculous. I use a drill press to to what he does with a rechargeable drill. If I tried that I could never fix my mistakes.

    Touch hole screw

If you can get the screw out take it to Ace hardware. They have boards to check metric and inch type threads.

Pulling a dent from a powder flask?

Take it to a paintless dent removal place. They preform miracles on cars. Flask should be no problem.

Pa hunters, do you wear camo during the intlock season

I quit hunting when I moved to Colorado. Too many Pa guys.

    Half Cock issue

I use inletting black, but lipstick or soot from a candle both work. It definitely sounds like wood is interfering.

    percussion caps

I was given an underhammer pistol that I found needed number 12 caps. I found some at the Mountain Man shop in Manitou Springs, Co. I had never heard of them before.

    51 Navy Pieta

I didn't say I wasn't happy with Taylor's. They were the only place I found the gun I wanted, and it arrived when they said it would. As others have noted inexpensive Italian guns often need work. Mine is no different. I actually bought it as much for a project and to learn from as to shoot. I...

    51 Navy Pieta

I like to tinker. Thats why I bought the gun. I've watched Blackie Thomas and Mike Belavieu's videos as well as a bunch of others so am pretty familiar with the workings of Colt's. The slot where the wedge goes through the base pin had a sharp ridge on one side that needed smoothing. The wedge...

    51 Navy Pieta

I got a 51 Navy for Christmas. It's from Taylor's. I have to say I'm not impressed with the fit. I got the shipping oil cleaned up but had a hard time getting the barrel off. I had to do some filing on the base pin to get it back on. That's n9t really a problem since I expected to have to do...

    Another Rum Horn

Beautiful work, but how do you get the last bit out with the plug on the inside of the curve?

36 or 44 best centerfire upgrade

Duelist 1954 on you tube has really good videos on this. I strongly recommend watching them before buying a gun. He's also on this forum, but I don't remember his handle.

    Ignorance with bag molds

Contemporary accounts I've read generally only mention having a few bullets in the pouch.

Range box, 1/2” Tulip Wood, stained with Butternut Husks.

Nice box. I was going to build something like that but wimped out and just built a plain box with a tray.

Info about this type of belt pouch

I have an unadorned but fringed one like that. It just tucks under my belt. I use it to carry wallet etc when wearing buckskins with no pockets.
