Taylor vs. cimarron vs. Traditions vs. Pietta?

I just got a Pietta 51 Navy from Taylor's. I shopped for a while, and it was the only steel blued .36 with 7.5 inch barrel I could find. It's funny that after shooting BP for 40 years the only thing I have that works with a revolver is a loading stand and powder measure since I bought Pyrodex P...

How do you wear your kit?

I guess I'm different. I'm right handed and wear my bag on the right but horn on the left. Some how it's more comfortable having the measure in my right hand and horn in my left.

Stock and other parts for older CVA Kentucky Long Rifle

There are as many cleaning methods as shooters. Plain water works fine. It looks like your pistol has a hooked breech. If it does. Remove the nipple and the barrel. Put the breech end in a container of water and pump water through it with a patch on a jag. Some people use brushes, but they can...

    Hawken kit

On the Hawkin shop website I think they have pictures from their old print catalog. It has pictures of a number of Hawkins. Some of them don't look anything like what we think of as a Hawkin rifle.

How is your favorite range rod handle shaped?

I like just a plain round ball. I'm too lazy to make anything fancy.

    Ramrod help

My first flint lock build has the problem of the front lock bolt interfering with the ram rod. I tapered the ram rod and filed away about half the thickness of the bolt to get it to work. Of course the ramrod will only go all thevvway in if the bolt is properly positioned.

    How do you carry pistols.

I have 3 pistols ( not revolvers) that I take to the range. I just put them in socks to protect them. Tbere has to be a better way.

    Tc hawken replacement nipple

Pretty much any 1/4 x28 nipple will work. A lot of guys like the bronze Tresso ones. I use hot shot ones that have little holes in the sides. The stock ones work fine orTC wouldn't have used them. Don't worry about platinum lining.

    TOW powder horn

I keep my old Goex cans. I cut a hole in the top and soldered a cut off 223 cartridge to it. Works great to fill a horn or pour into a measure with zero spilling or mess.
