plugs for the screw holes in the barrel ?

I hated the sights on my TC Hawken. I dovetailed in buckhorn sight and filled the screw holes with 6 48 screws and filed them off flush and browned them. No Loc tite. They've been there 20 years and are barely noticable.

    Help for old eyes

I have worn noline bifocals for years. They seem to work well for shooting.

    Knapping hammer

There are a lot of ways to knap or sharpen the flint in your rifle. I have a small hammer with a brass head and steel handle with a screwdriver end that fits my top jaw screw. With the frizzen open and at half-cock I support the flint with a finger while tapping the edge with the hammer. There...

How I Make A Ramrod and Range Rod

I use 6d finishing nails for all my pins. Available and cheap and soft enough to finish easily.

    .36 cal Ball Starter

Don't forget to pin anything you plan to put down a barrel for anything but ramming balls. Don't ask me how I know.

    Amusing/Ridiculous Muzzleloading Misconceptions...

Funny how guys use their vehicles to express their masculinity. I usually drive a Suburu but I also drive an F250 diesel. Am I a tough guy or a wuss?

    From can to pan...

I have a couple of primers. Both work well. One is a small horn with a commercial small charger as a spout. The other is just a very small horn I wear on a thong around my neck. It's a lot easier to get just a couple of grains out of than my full sized horn.

Help to find nipple thread specs

Take your nipple to your friendly Ace Hardware. They have a think in the screw section you can try your nipple in it to find the actual size.

    Descending aim offhand.

I've never used either so I was surprised that it was mentioned as prohibited at the ML club I just joined. Their berms aren't real high, and they don't own much land behind them.

Why I stay away from muzzleloaders with scope mounts

Just a thought, but since breech plugs, nipples, and drums are all just threaded why not just loc tite some screws in the holes?

    1851 Navy .36 - Load Data???

You tuber Guns of the West makes and sells a paper cartridge former kit for 36 revolvers that includes a 17 grain powder measure. Some other kits call for 20 grains. I have never even handled a bp revolver but am looking to get a 1851 Navy in the near future so I read and watch everything I can.

    Pinning barrel tenons....

I have always used 6d finishing nails for pins. Maybe that's what he uses.

    Touch hole size ??

When I built my first flinter I drilled a 1/16 hole. It seldom went bang the first time. I opened it up to 5/64 and it worked good. I didn't have any number sized drills. A touch hole liner may work better with 1/16, but I don't have one of those either.

    Jeremiah Johnson Hawken

I was lucky enough to stop be the Hawkin shop in St Louis while Art owned it. He wasn't there, but the guy who was let me go in the back and look at his collection of originals that was shown in their old catalog. I picked up a few of them. It's also where I got the iron parts to make my TC look...

    attaching horn to bag

I like the idea of horn attached to bag, but I like my bag on the right and horn on the left so I'm handling the power measure with my right hand..
