    Increasing LOP

Received a new (to me) Lancaster style flintlock and the length of pull is useable for me but I am thinking of increasing the LOP a bit. A friend recommended cutting some boot felt to match the butt and covering it with leather, to make it look more period correct. Anyone have any photos of...

    Information about TC Hawken

I am not positive but I believe the "K" in the serial number refers to it being a kit, that someone has put together. This is what I was told years ago. Welcome.

Lubing felt wads with olive oil

JCB, thanks to you as well. I have some bees wax and will be mixing some up today. Great to hear about the no swabbing needed. I prefer to shoot that way.

Lubing felt wads with olive oil

Hey Canute, how ya been? Do you mix your oil and wax 50/50 by liquid volume, or weight? Sounds like you are getting that .54 matchlock where you want it.

Lubing felt wads with olive oil

To any of you that use olive oil to lube your felt wads in your guns.....how do you apply the oil? I am punching out wads from Durofelt and was thinking of putting a bunch into a mason jar and shaking them around a bit. Trying to get an idea of how long to "saturate" them. I would like them...

    shipping a musket

Like Claude said....beware of taking online advice...best to call proper authorities if you are uncertain. That said, we ship BP longrifles here in NYS all the time, within and out of state. Now if you are referring to NYC, then that is a whole different situation. We do not need permits here...

Best Load for a .50 cal Longrifle

Hi Dutch, I bought your excellent work several years ago and would really like to have the e-book if still available. Thanks for putting it out there. I find I go back to it from time to time just to refresh my memory on some stuff. Rick Rodgers Rome, NY

    Caroga Lake, NY winter shoots?

Caroga still has woodwalks, I think the third Sunday morning each month thru April. Also, if you go on Facebook, check NYSMLA ( NYS muzzleloaders Assoc.) and under the calendar you should see some events. The last Group Tightner listed a contact for Caroga F&G club as Chester Burch (518) 463-3952

    Actual barrel weight

Planning a squirrel rifle build --- .40 caliber barrel in either 3/4 or 13/16 flats. The length will be anywhere from 36 to 39 inches long. I am trying to find the actual weight of several barrels to determine a comfortable offhand rifle weight.....without getting a swamped barrel. Does...

    Ball, Bore, and Patch Combinations?

Hi, interested in your post on using Spanish moss. Can I ask how you use it. Is it as a "patch" or over ball as a wad,,or something else? Lubed in any way? Also, Spanish moss not readily available up here I don't believe. Any substitute ideas?? Thank you, very curious.

CCI caps lot B01T -too small

Just wanted to pass along some information on this original post. After communicating with CCI and sending them a tin to examine, they requested all tins be returned to them. They replaced the tins plus all postage and were actually more than fair in this dealing. The original post never...

CCI caps lot B01T -too small

I have always used CCI #11 caps with no problems. However, recently I opened a new tin and found that 56 of the caps would not fit the nipple --- too small. I tried 2 new nipples (as well as a friends 2 guns with #11 nipples) and the same results. Unfortunately this was the very first time I...
