    JB Weld front sight?

Tried new smoothbore for first time the other day and sfter getting home an "accident" occured and the sight was whacked, knocking it off the barrel. My problem is the barrel is now finished. I was told I could try a dab of JB Weld on the sight instead of trying to solder the sight onto a now...

    what shot to use

Thanks for the replies guys. Made me think --- guess I should also ask if anyone knows where you can purchase say a 5 pound bag of lead shot in #7 1/2 or 8? I have #6 and may as well buy a smallish bag if I can find one. TOTW sells 5 lb but #6 is their smallest.

    what shot to use

About to shoot shot from my smoothbore for the first time. I got hold of a little #6 shot so I can try it out. My quesion is what type of shot should be used in a smoothbore ---- steel, lead??? I wasn't sure what to use and didn't want to use anything that might harm the barrel. Also, not...

    Kits/component sets

I have spoken with the sellers of several kits and very much like three of these sets. They are Jim Chambers, TVM (Matt Avance), and Dunlap Woodcrafts. Wondering how much work needs to be done on the stock re: inletting, shaping etc., and if any one set sticks out as being more builder...

    40 cal rate of twist

Guess like most everything, there is no cut and dried solution. Personal preference seems to be the way to go. Thanks for all the input.

    40 cal rate of twist

What rate of twist do you favor in a .40 cal flinter --- roundball target use only. I have seen where they range from 1:48 to 1:72. Wondered what would be any advantages of a slower rate. Trying to decide on a barrel. Thanks

    Numbered Drill Bits

My Ace Hardware carries them too. They have them with the taps --- not in the aisle with the other drill bits.

    Cutting brass sideplate

Both of the above are good options too. I don't have access to a band saw now, but do have a small drill press........interesting. Thanks

    Cutting brass sideplate

What is the best (only?) way to cut sheet brass for a plain sideplate. Is a jeweler's saw needed? Thanks

    Comparable Swiss load

Have about a half pound of Swiss 3f given to me to try out. Have only shot Goex 3f in the past. Is there a "general rule of theumb" about how much powder to use of Swiss compared to Goex. Thought I read somewhere that you use a little less of the Swiss??? Figured I would try some loads to...

    Handy Bore Light

Can you shine the light down the bore of a .50 cal rifle to see the face of the breech plug, or does it not work well for that?
