    Sharps Carbine shooting rest

At least I stirred up some good conversations here! As I said in so many words , I started with the factory sight & was shooting way high and a bit left. I removed the front blade and put in a taller one. This shot very low. After filing it down I’m about 3 inches low and wanted a more precise...

    Sharps Carbine shooting rest

I would love to shoot that group. I’m using Hahn tubes with Rapine bullets & 40 grains of Swiss 2F (45.5 grains by weight). I’ll try that method using my Caldwell front bag. What sights are you using ?

    Sharps Carbine shooting rest

Thanks a lot for the comments . You answered my question about having to remove it from the stand to load a single shot lever rifle. That was what I was wondering . As the second gentleman implied I am not sure that is enough to keep me from buying it 😀… I’ve been looking at it for quite a while...

    Sharps Carbine shooting rest

Young eyes are out ! I do have a set of Caldwell bags but for some reason they don’t feel right . I have tried a front rest with adjustable elevation and a rear bag but that also doesn’t feel right so I just use the front adjustable rest which is ok for shooting but I won’t file the front...

    1858 Remmy cylinder swap

That video is a good example of a bad example. Look elsewhere.

    Sharps Carbine shooting rest

thanks for your comments , I understand. I’m thinking of the lead sled to give the gun a solid foundation for final adjustment to the sight and am wondering if while it’s in the shooting rest is it possible I’d be able to lower the lever to reload the chamber or does it matter for sighting...

    Sharps Carbine shooting rest

I’m looking for advice on a shooting rest for a sharps carbine. I’ve been using a front rest only and trying to sight the gun. I’m at a point where I’d like a really stable rest but I’m not sure what I see would allow for the lever action needed to load a cartridge without screwing things up. I...

12 Ga Pedersoli shotgun and the Sky Chief Turkey load

This is the gun… I always liked the look of the Coach gun. I’ve had a little trouble with accuracy and my range only allows the clays set on the berm so it’s hard to get a clear picture of exactly where it’s hitting when I play with loads. I figure the short barrel is allowing for too much...

12 Ga Pedersoli shotgun and the Sky Chief Turkey load

I know this is off topic , but I wonder if any of you might be able to help. I have a Pedersoli 12 gauge SXS Coach gun. The barrels are cylinder bore & .720 inside diameter and a short 20 inches. At this point, I just shoot clays on a berm about 20 yards out. Would the heavily oil soaked...

    Musket caps

Nothing to compare to but Schuetzen work very well for me … a few have required 2 strikes but I find them very reliable on a sharps .. a bit loose but that hasn’t mattered .

    Pyrodex pistol pellets

They work in an Uberti Remington and are a strong load. They might have some ignition issues due to need for higher ignition temperature required according to what I’ve read. The spring in the Uberti Remington isn’t as strong as my Pieta version which has lead to double strike cap issues with...

    weighting in on volume

Also , you buy powder by weight , 7000 grains per pound. No matter what your spout measure says , you only get 7000 grains of shooting ( or spilling) out of a pound. I use a spout because it’s more convenient but I don’t really expect it to be exactly the same weight with each pour.

    RWS 1075 Percussion Caps

I agree … but rather than file etc a nipple for Each batch of caps , I found caps that seemed to fit & work .. I think the Colt & Pietta springs are stronger in my guns. Also the cone length for replacement nipples seems important to me . I bought some Treso nipples that were shorter than stock...

    weighting in on volume

FYI, using Treso powder spouts .GG is Graff’s Goex & S is Swiss . The last column is the weight by scale for the listed spout. These were just single samples so not the last word. To me volume spouts are for convenience to get an easy relatively repeatable charge. A scale won’t work in...

    RWS 1075 Percussion Caps

1075 plus & CCI Magnums needed a second strike on an Uberti & Pedersoli Remington NMA….with stock or Treso nipples . Remington 10s work fine . 1075 plus work well on a Pietta REmington NMA with stock nipples & Colt 1860 2nd Gen with slixshots . 1075 plus work well on Ped 12Ga sxs but fit a...

Problems I have had with, and thoughts on Pedersolis I have owned .

The 12 gauge SxS Coach gun I got was actually potentially dangerous as shipped. After shooting one barrel the other trigger became randomly inoperable. A barrel charged with about 90 grains of 2F with a trigger that might or might not work could definitely lead to a screw up. This gun sells for...

    Tent flooring

Basically did the same thing only cut the plastic sheet about 10” smaller than the floor around the borders so rain water didn’t accumulate between the plastic and the tent bottom . I bought the thick plastic sheeting.

Problems I have had with, and thoughts on Pedersolis I have owned .

An expensive gun from a reputable manufacturer should not have been sent out without some real level of quality control. The gun was not operable from the factory. . The OP asked about Pedersoli issues. After interacting with the factory reps & dealers regarding 2 of 3 guns I purchased from them...
