Problems I have had with, and thoughts on Pedersolis I have owned .

I got a Ped 12 ga SXS Coach gun with double triggers from Dixie. After a few shots , the triggers wouldn’t work . I took the gun apart and the pin on which both triggers pivot was not locked in place and would come loose. It was brand new. I asked Pedersoli to replace the trigger setup and they...

    What's your Moose Milk mixture

FYI…from Ballistol website … https://ballistol.com/uses/firearm-cleaning-lubricant/ “BLACK POWDER SOLVENT Due to its alkaline character, Ballistol is ideal for cleaning and maintaining black powder firearms. The residues from black powder in chambers and bores are acidic. Ballistol neutralizes...

    RMC loading stand

I looked at pictures of Colts from the right side and all I saw show the wedge spring uncompressed and the retainer clip holding the wedge in place in the barrel … I’ll just stick with that.

    RMC loading stand

That was exactly the kind of idea I was looking for … I’ll try not pushing the wedge in from the left to the point where the retainer catches the barrel … I never thought of that …I thought the clip kept the wedge securely in place … I’ll take a look at trying that.

    RMC loading stand

I know that. What I was talking about is the little retaining clip on the right side of the barrel that keeps the wedge from coming out. I pound the wedge just to release barrel. It’s not a big deal . I was just curious if people had some trick to push it down while moving the wedge to the left.

    RMC loading stand

Thanks again.. I do have a hammer with a rubber head & a plastic head … the brass wedge tool I use on my 12 ga works great … I was just trying to see if any of you experienced folks had a trick to save the Colt 2nd barrel from the wear developing at the wedge spring retainer clip…

    RMC loading stand

thanks for your comments … I ended up getting the Powder Inc version … I will have to see about clamping it at the range . I’d prefer not to HAVE to do that. As to taking the cylinder out of the 1860 Colt(2nd.Gen) , do you have any special technique for removing the wedge ? I’d like to be able...

    RMC loading stand

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the RMC loading stand especially with the Colt 1860 ? The Traditions doesn’t really work with the Colt arbor size, not to mention the weaknesses of the Traditions stand. RMC is cheaper than the Powder Inc model, about the same as the Traditions, so...

    Colt 1860 Army 2nd Generation

The gun is fine. Since I’m used to remingtons and the ease of changing out cylinders I was just wondering if anyone with more colt experience has a way a depressing the spring as they push the wedge through or if just pounding out the wedge with a brass or wooden tool is what everyone does...

    Colt 1860 Army 2nd Generation

One more thing … I prefer loading the cylinder out of the gun as I do with Remingtons. I use a brass wedge tool to knock out the wedge but the spring retainer that hooks on the barrel has left a mark on the barrel from repeatedly pounding it out. I fear continued use of this method might wear...

Any thoughts on 1.5F Swiss in the 20 inch barrel 12 gauge ?

    1.5F Swiss Powder

Similar situation / question ….I got some Swiss 1.5F because I couldn’t get 2F. I have a Pedersoli Sharps Carbine (musket caps) and a Pedersoli double barrel 12 ga Coach gun ( 20 in barrels , #11 caps). From what I read above the 1.5F should be ok in these guns. Right ?

My Printer has paper jams but my pistol?

I’ve used a lot of paper cartridges made with curler paper with no problem. I don’t nitrate the paper. After a while I can find some remnants of paper in the chambers but they never jam or have ignition problems. I’ve never used that small a load but I use a 44 with .454 balls.

    Fillers & Paper Cartriges

I was wondering if anyone has experience making & using paper cartridges with a mix of powder & filler. I like paper cartridges but I’ve started using lighter Target loads that require some filler. I assume that the powder and filler would get all mixed up in a paper cartridge when I carry them...
