FYI… I’ve had a shot glass crack (not break) from leaving it in a pan of boiling water maybe a bit long after water boiled down. Microwave seems to work better for me. I just use beeswax & olive oil with paraffin for the super hot climate .

Pedersoli 12 ga Coach gun is .720. What do any of you experienced folks think a decent sized ball that won’t get stuck loading after some shooting would be?

My fix worked . I shot it today and removed the trigger mechanism and it looked just as it did when I had initially fixed it. It’s really fun to shoot…now!

I went back and watched the clip on measuring & decided, while I didn’t know where the shims came from , putting one on each side of the hammer made more sense than 2 on one side. I initially took the measurements at 1/2 cock with mainspring in so I don’t think that was right.

I put the 2 shims on the left of the hammer. I think they were actually .0055 thick. I hope that’s where they went. The Pedersoli distributer said they belonged to the hammer I didn’t get any guidance on where to put each so I used the measurements and decided.

In case anyone is interested , I measured the gap on either side of the hammer (screw in) of an Uberti Remington & the Pedersoli Target. I put them each on 1/2 cock and for the Uberti on left side of the hammer I got .0015 & on the right .013 in. The Pedersoli without shims on the left was .002...

I let the weak glue I used sit for a day and took the gun apart and the brass sheets I put on either side of the pin actually look good. I got some super glue in case they fall off next time out but I’m leaving well enough alone right now. I really do love this gun . It’s just so classic looking...

I’m glad to hear that you have gotten good service from your gun. I really like my Coach gun and see it as an easy fix although I might need to take another crack at it. The little spring that returns the triggers is pretty cheesy too but it seems to work.

Interesting discovery when I took trigger off …. There is a small pin that both triggers pivot off toward the front. When I shoot the force from about a 70 gn charge & 1-1/4 oz of shot jars the pin loose on one of the triggers . It’s a bad design in my view. Maybe they gouged too much wood to...
