proverbial dumb question about bore diameter - use the same diameter ball as .36 revolver?

I think a rifle in the same bore as a Colt Navy would be a fine thing to have.

    kibler fowler

Any idea what it will look like? I remember a few months ago they teased a smoothbore that was more of a chief’s grade trade gun. I’m not all that interested in something like that, but an English or colonial style Fowler would be mighty tempting.

SOLD Custom .40 Cal Flintlock Colonial Rifle

Wow! I’m not in the market right now but that is a steal. Someone needs to snap this up.

    Coned Muzzles

No, the Joe Woods coning tool produces a very gradual cone that extends a few inches back from the muzzle. It eliminates the need for a short starter. Mine looks just like the first picture. The lands and grooves are still visible at the muzzle. I’m able to press a patched ball down to flush...

    After the Kibler Kits

I built a Kibler Colonial earlier this year and was very happy with the results. Having a correctly built gun really helped me visualize how all the parts work together and how a rifle should look when it’s done right. I’m thinking about building my next one from a plank for two reasons - 1...

    clay pipes

I’m going to drill a hole in the handle of my short starter so I can use it as a pipe. And then after I’m done smoking it I’m going to break the end off.

    Powder coated Minie balls

I bet it would work. I powder coat unmentionable bullets and they hold up really well. You can beat one flat with a hammer and the coating won’t separate from the lead.

    SOLD FURNIS Style Scalping Knife

I like this a lot. I’m not familiar with Furnis knives, is that a specific style or maker?

    MUZZLE CONING TOOL

Another happy customer here! I coned the barrel on my .54 Kibler, and now it’s easy to load without a short starter. No change in accuracy that I can see. The process was almost foolproof. I’ll be buying more as I add additional calibers to the stable.

I’ve bought from The Leather Guy | Leather Hides, Scraps, Supplies & Hardware before. They have decent sales sometimes.

Sounds like a 19th century version of “Hold my beer and watch this.”

Lowes painters tarp to shelter/ tent conversion

Great job! I thought about doing the same thing but my wife insists she wants a wall tent or she won’t go with me :)

    DOES IT EVER GET CLEAN?

I used to plug my vent with a toothpick and fill the barrel with water and it worked fine, but on a whim I bought this the other day: Track's Best Flint Flush Cleaning Tool, for breeches up to 1-7/16", without spillage - Track of the Wolf I just got done cleaning my rifle after a day at the...

What would it take for the NMLRA to become a true "national" organization?

I don’t know anything about how he got the job, but I’m a big fan of Ethan Yazel. He’s doing a great job of promoting muzzleloading to younger generations and creates a ton of interest. He’s exactly the kind of person we need to keep the sport going.

WANTED Anybody got a used cheap AWI Regimental coat.....the good guys one.

I haven’t worn it to an event yet, but the plan is to wear it with a waistcoat and long sleeved shirt. I’ve tried it on with all that stuff underneath and that’s when it was a little short. It’s a civilian coat though, not a military one.

Maybe a half inch or so. Enough to be slightly annoying but not terrible. I’m also 6’1” and long arms. If I was ordering again I would consider going up one size. It fits snug in the shoulders and chest, but not excessively so.

I also have one of the Fort Laramie coats. I wear a 46 regular in a suit coat so that’s the size I ordered. It fits well, except the sleeves are a little short. Otherwise the quality is pretty decent for the price.
