    Replica Military Muzzle Loaders

I once had a Zoli Zouave that shot quite nicely with the Moose Molds Wilkinson bullet, not so well with the home cast minies.

    Replica Military Muzzle Loaders

I have a Euroarms 2 band Enfield (.581 bore,1-66 twist, constant depth rifling} and haven't had much success using home cast minies of soft lead sized to .580 or .581. Worked from 35 - 70 grains of 2F and 3F powder, sorta groups at 50 yards, a pallet sized pattern at 100 yards. Very frustrating...

I use electronic ear muffs, work about as well as my hearing aids between shots. (be sure to check into the 'wife cancelling software' option for your ear muffs)

FOR SALE Euroarms Enfield Naval Pattern "2 Band" Rifle

Originally produced by Parker Hale in England with 1-48" twist barrels (I think with progressive rifling), later produced by Euroarms using Parker Hale barrels and Italian parts, still later produced by Euroarms with 1-66" barrels after their supply of English made barrels ran out. Very nice...

    Brass bullet mold from Italy

I looked through the 1977 and 1998 Dixie Gunworks catalogs without seeing anything that matched.

Did I make a mistake? or Is there a misconception about smoking molds?

I’ve always smoked my Lee molds before their first use.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Took the Austin Halleck flintlock .50 to the range, at 25 yards had 5 of 10 shots in one ragged hole using a .480 ball, moved out to the 50 yard gong for a few more shots but it was getting hot outside fast.

Variety is the spice of life. You've asked the impossible question.

    Identify this flint rifle

Advertised as an African trade gun, made up with mostly surplus parts, imported by Stoeger I think in the 1950s - 60's from the ads that I remember.

How to figure ball diameter for your guns bore

Circa 1860's- 1880's when Brockway was active bullets were often called balls, a hold over from the round ball days. The target rifles he made would have used picket or sugar loaf bullets, as pictured above. Later parallel sided bullets used a two piece construction with a hard lead nose and...

Parker Hale Enfield vs Euroarms Enfield

My Parker Hale 2 band is all Italian, it has Italy engraved on the trigger guard, but I don't know where in the series that started.

Parker Hale Enfield vs Euroarms Enfield

Not mine, I found this online awhile back - Here, from the MLAGB archives of 2010, is the skinny on serial numbers - ALL rifles and Musketoons - two band, three band and Whitworth - ALL calibres, that is to say, both .577/.58" and .451" - 0000 to ~9000 were made in Birmingham ~9000 to 14000...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Shot the pietta 1860 revolver, 30 grains 3f and .451 round ball, my results were not impressive with more of a pattern than a group. However the all of last cylinder full hit the 12” x 16” gong at 10 yards. Fuzzy eyesight isn’t helping.

    Half-stocked Rifle

1850 - 1870ish sporting/target rifle, muzzle turned round for a bullet starter. Would be interesting to know the rifling twist rate.
