If you can upgrade from a CVA to a L&R, from my experience that would be money well spent. Years ago I had a miserable experience with a CVA flint lock. The quality and reliability of my CVA was poor, but this was in the last century, so may have changed....

I Like this tread. I have a rifle i assembled with pins... And I am afraid to take them out lest I break out the wood! Nope not peened, but I could easily believe that in the field an original piece could have peened pins on one end if through repeated service cleaning they became loose.

I tried pouring pewter in a gun stock project. Mixed results.... I will need to repour one spot.

I mixed some lamp black from an art supply with cold cream. Learned this from a mentor of mine in the 70s.
