Flintolock pistol rises, never hit the target :-(

Nothing to worry about, the pirates on the Spanish Main were probably even worse shots.

    Replica Remington Police model?

With the correct dimensions, including the frame and cylinder? I sure would. No safety markings would be great too.

    .225-32 tap

For cleaning the rust out of old parts, without removing original metal, having a tap that's a little smaller in diameter would be safer.

    .225-32 tap

Are you sure it isn't #12 - 32? That's real close to .225 (.218 I think) and the same number of threads per inch. 12 - 32 taps are fairly common, but not as common as 8s and 10s.

Help identifying how to call my Turner Kirkland Muzzleloader

Mine says "Dixie Gun Works Union City Tennessee Made in Belgium 319". 45 cal. also. I bought it new and I thought that was in the 1960's but maybe I'm remembering that wrong. The ones that say "Turner Kirkland" would be older, I would think.

    time machine

I think 1967 was the last good year - after that things started going to heck. I was 20 years old, the cars were fast, the girls were pretty, and there were no computers.

A question for the 36 caliber shooters

Track of the Wolf has .340 cast round balls - they work good in my Numrich underhammer with a .350 bore

    Possible build?

That creates a problem with the sights.

    Possible build?

I built a mule ear pistol out of a 10 inch cut-off 36 caliber rifle barrel. The twist is 1-48 - like Nick says, that not really the right thing for a pistol and the accuracy isn't great.

NAVY ARMS CO. RIDGEFIELD N.J. - Italy Remington 1858

Looks like you did a good job of caring for it all these years. The Italian company that made it is Uberti, no "M" in it. Take it out and shoot it again, the world still needs Western bad *****!

    my new pistol

He must have small hands - or that piece of wood wasn't quite big enough but he used it anyway.

American Rifleman shows us some love

I didn't realize they were still sending the American Rifleman magazine. I have been a life member of the NRA since the 1960's but haven't gotten one for many years.

NAVY ARMS CO. RIDGEFIELD N.J. - Italy Remington 1858

I think you will find a "G.U." mark on the bottom flat of the barrel, under the loading lever. If so, it's a Uberti. I have number 1650, marked XVII. Yours is in beautiful condition, mine is pretty rough.

    Civil War Revolver

I think it's a first variation of the Allen and Wheelock - how are the nipples threaded into the cylinder? Could it be that they are installed from inside the holes? More pictures would be great! The Federal gov't did buy a few of these during the war. It's a rare gun and seems to be in darn...

    Uberti 1860 Army front sight

I understand the geometry of the sight alignment vs point of impact - but at least for me, burying the front sight in the notch just covers up the target, unless the rear sight would be a real wide shallow "V" (which it isn't on a revolver). I always line up the tops of the front and rear...

    Uberti 1860 Army front sight

Lowering the top would be the opposite of raising the front, but lowering the bottom of the notch - how does that help?

    Uberti 1860 Army front sight

I don't completely understand how filing the notch in the rear sight would help. At least for me, it's the top of the sight that counts.

Did uberti ever make a small frame 1858 navy?

The original Remington navy had a cylinder that was 1/8 inch smaller in diameter, and the opening in the frame was narrower by that amount. The length of the cylinder was the same as the army. The loading ram was smaller (of course) and the hole in the frame for that too. The grip frame was the...

    H+A Boot Pistol

I have one also. There must be some variations of them, mine has a blade front sight and finger grooves on the grip. Maybe you used those .357 wadcutters with no patch? Mine has a bore of .352 so those bullets would be a nice tight fit.

    Remington 1858:Opinions and advice please.

Lodgewood in Janesville Wisconsin would do a good job. It's a valuable gun and needs to be carefully repaired. The nipple holes are not parallel to the sides of the cylinder, they are at an angle.
