    CB Turner combination gun

I love mule ear locks, small calibers, and unusual rifles - that one has it all! Does it come apart at that joint at the breech? I suppose it's sort of heavy. How does the bore look? Let us know how it shoots. Thanks for letting us see it - that is one heck of a nice rifle.

    Influence with Pietta among us?

Nipples are sort of a wear item on percussion guns, so buying an extra set is a good idea anyway. I recently bought a Uberti 1858 and I really like it, and lots of people are pleased with their Piettas. The difference between #10 and #11 caps is really small, like hard to measure. I use 11's...

You're going to be a colonist....

I'd hate to leave my old Volvos behind, but if I went I would take my 36 cal. rifle, because I can hit stuff with it. I miss most of the time with handguns. As far as job, in my working life I worked on electric control systems, but most of what I know (or used to know) is out of date now. Would...

    Uberti Navy wanted

Dixie shows the 51 Navy and the 61 Navy Uberti's in stock, at least on their website. Not the London model though.

    Welding

Mine was a 66 Volvo 1800 - now that I think about it, that was a pretty new car at the time. I graduated high school in 65, how did I afford that? It must have been beat up and cheap.

How do I load a .32 rifle for small game?

Are the Crockett rifles still available new?

    Welding

Using coat hangers brought a smile to my face. I did that when I had my first cars to try to keep the exhaust systems from falling off. I wonder if Ma wondered why there wasn't very many hangers left in the closet? Gas welding on thin metal is great, on thicker stuff it's more of a challenge...

Trigger weight on Black Powder Revolvers?

Felonies aren't federally defined, the definition and punishment vary state to state. If someone thinks the laws in their state are unjust or should be changed in some way, they can write to their representatives and explain their concerns. We really do live in a democracy.

    1851@100.

We "left" Britain by declaring independence and refusing to obey British law. They objected to that and a war was fought to decide the issue.

    1851@100.

They didn't leave in 1776, we did. They left in 1781 after a long and bloody fight.

    1851@100.

I wonder what Britsmoothy thinks about how this thread has gone. He's probably glad we left in 1776.

Lyman uberti 1858 36 cal plunger

Sounds like you're right, you have a different frame. That would be a unusual and neat gun, don't get rid of it! Finding that part is going to be tough, probably have to repair the old one with weld or have a machine shop make one. That shows that the reproduction guns we buy aren't always very...

Thompson center percussion lock with safety

At least those don't have a red "fire" sign on them.

Lyman uberti 1858 36 cal plunger

I have a fairly new Uberti 36 Rem. The plunger is two diameters on it also. It seems like it would have to be because the diameter of the hole in the frame is much bigger than the 36 cal. hole in the cylinder.

Thompson center percussion lock with safety

I'd remove it and plug the hole.

    Pietta 1858 C&B - Painful to shoot

I don't have any drawings, but here's what I did so far- I have made two sets, both on Uberti brands. The first time I used a set of "ivory" grips from Gripmaker. They come a little too big and he intends for you to trim them to fit. I left the length instead of trimming and used some extra...

    Pietta 1858 C&B - Painful to shoot

I made a set of grips that are longer at the bottom - they cover the frame and extend the length by quite a bit. That allows me to hold the gun lower and get out of the way of the trigger guard. Someone should make and sell grips like that, they could make a million bucks - well, ok maybe a...
