    Lock Collecting?

I think it might be interesting to collect antique flintlocks. I don't think I'd be all that interested in twentieth century production, however.

    Dixie gun works mountain rifle

Ah...fond memories! The Dixie TMR was my first muzzleloader. And it was a 50 cal. flintlock, too. The lock never failed. But boy, it sure was a boat anchor! I purchased it in about 1982. I sold it after a while.

    Defarbing a ML Barrel

If you have a file, and some sand paper you can do this yourself. If the stampings aren't too deep, you might start out with 80 grit and work down to 220. If the barrel is blued, you're going to have to blue the barrel again. But that's a pretty easy job, as well.

    Starting a Hudson Valley Fowler

Sounds like they'd be handy in Kansas. Flat enough in these parts to park the butt in the next county and load 'er up no sweat.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

It was a beautiful Fall day today. Weather was clear, & sunny. The temperature hovered between 60° F. and 65° F., wind was 9 mph from the SSW, humidity 54%. You couldn't ask for better on a November day in Kansas. I shot my Track of the Wolf fusil de chasse. I'd post pictures, but I'm a little...

    Questions About Bare Ball Shooting

I bought one of these molds a couple of years ago in .610" I like it very well. If you purchase one of them, you'll need to get a pair of handles. But that's no problem. Lee double cavity mold handles fit nicely. Nice thing about these molds is that you can order one in nearly any ball diameter...

    Rifled trade gun?

There were trade rifles sold by American & British fur companies. These looked nothing like the NW gun, however. The Museum of the Fur Trade has several publications that will be of interest to you.

@Flinter2: Do you have a few books you could recommend about French guns in North America? I can't find some of your information in my library.
