Testing WD-40 against water patches. Which is cleaner?

I use WD-40 as a Rust Preventative. Midway did a study a while back. They coated a bunch of metal plates with different substances and stored them in a humid environment. The WD-40 plate came out the cleanest. Walt

    Bore brushing.

I stopped using a bore brush and went with burlap. I cut it into squares. Scrub on one side, turn it over scrub again, and done. Walt

    Which group is the best?

I've heard of the first rule but not the second. Good to know. Thanks! Walt

    Which group is the best?

I was going to just do the 50 and 60 but you're probably right. I should repeat the test but might eliminate the 45 starting point. Thanks! Walt

    Which group is the best?

I was going to use the 36 for paper targets and the 50 for steel. Thanks! Walt

    Which group is the best?

I'm seeking opinions. I took the Frontier Gander rifle out to the Range on Friday. This time with the 50-caliber barrel (it also came with a 36). Both barrels are 28 inches. I started with 45 grains of 3F at 13 yards to ensure I was on paper. I moved it out to 25 yards and Bench Rested 45, 50...

    Goex Powder

According to the Gun Works located in Springfield, Oregon with decades in the Muzzleloading community, Estes hired a Chemist to tweak the formula. It now burns cleaner and has higher velocities. The person I spoke to said it's similar to Swiss. A club member said he knew someone who chronoed...

    Goex Powder

I've never seen the inside of a lock that dirty. Even on a flinter! I don't believe this is what BPMS was referring to. Walt

    WORST DAY AT THE RANGE!

Wise words! I guess I was expecting him to be more like he was the last time out. Total night and day difference! Walt

    WORST DAY AT THE RANGE!

I was almost going to say something. I wear Walker Razor Electronic muffs. I turn the sound on when I'm with others. Off when by myself. He was wearing the foam type with the wire going over his head. Walt

    WORST DAY AT THE RANGE!

I don't know what happened. He wasn't like this the last time out. However, that was a while back. He was like an old dog that can't learn a new trick. 2025 marks my 40th year in this hobby. He acted as if he knew more than me. I hate to give up on him. Food for thought I guess. Walt

    WORST DAY AT THE RANGE!

True that. At least I know what that barrel likes! Walt

    WORST DAY AT THE RANGE!

I was talking to a guy in our Gun Club last Friday. He said he was thinking about selling his two muzzleloaders because he never shoots them. I invited him out today. He has a Crocket Rifle and I’m still sighting in my Frontier Gander’s 36 caliber barrel. This isn’t the first time we’ve been out...
