Poll: What do you use your muzzleloader for?

Did you guys go on public or private ground? (I ask knowing you're right next to 17,000 acres of KDWP land) I don't have any of my old camping supplies, but that would be a fun weekend to do!

Poll: What do you use your muzzleloader for?

I haven't been to a rendezvous in +15 years. Would love to take my kids to a few and do some shooting, but at this point mine get used for hunting.

Poll: What do you use your muzzleloader for?

Was talking to a friend this past weekend and he asked "When does the muzzleloader season begin?" I was taken aback, because the season opened last Monday. He's an avid bow hunter and the muzzleloader and archery seasons in Kansas begin at the same time. Turns out, he's much more of a plinker...

    Kibler's next gun?

I think these kits are 2-3 year developments. I’d expect some kind of announcement (I have no insight, purely a guess) by spring

    58 cal. Smoothbore from Kibler

@Ballshooter developed a great round ball load for this gun. I also did some load testing with my .58 and came up with a few solid shot loads if you’d like to try some out! https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/shot-patterns.160172/

I think this is a good point. However, I've had a ton of beautiful pieces go through my garage and I'd feel negligent if I wasn't doing my damnest to make sure they looked their best with the best methods available

How often do you guys take apart and oil your locks?

A fairly new flintlock owner here (2 years). Is it really necessary to clean the lock after every outing? It’s not like the internal parts are exposed to much? I usually take it off after the end of every year to make sure there’s no damage or crud, then add a little oil. Note: I only shoot a...

    French Grey finish ?

I did the same. This was not my best effort with the lock as it turned out blotchy imo, but the barrel was spot on for the look I wanted. Unfortunately, I didn’t grasp the best pictures if the barrel. You can see a few glimpses of the barrel in these photos which are consistent in real life.

    Shot patterns

It absolutely would. I had a thought just the other day about getting it out over my Brittany. Prairie Chickens open up in a month and bobwhites in November. It’s a little heavy for swinging, but my dog loves to work 😃

How many of your rifles have killed deer?

My first deer with a muzzleloader came from my first muzzleloader, a Jack Garner percussion .40 poor boy. The gun took 4 deer, won a LOT of matches, and probably hasn’t been fired in 4 years. It’ll be passed on down to my boy when I think he’s ready. Got his first gobbler this spring, so we may...

Read somewhere not too long ago where a guy used alkanet and mineral spirits BEFORE applying his finish. I can’t remember what affect it had. Might be the same?

    Highlighting figured Walnut

Now that’s what I’m talking about. I’ll do some looking into it, but any words of the wise with this method?

    Highlighting figured Walnut

Please delete if not allowed. I wanted to pick the brain of some wood finishers since we have a few in here! 😃 Walnut is one of my favorite woods to work with. I love the smell cutting it… I love how durable it is… I love the contrast between heart and sapwood. It’s simply beautiful. I operate...

    Kibler's next gun?

You may want to contact Jim in regards to this. I seem to remember a previous active member on this forum who had quarrels with his international policy. If I remember correctly, Australia requires barrels to have a traceable serial number on the barrel and this was something Jim couldn’t...
