    One I’ll remember

It’s hard to put into words… 4 months ago I started a project (my 2nd Kibler Colonial) that would result in a beautiful work of art and an accurate tool to aid in successful adventures in the woods. ‘Success’ in the hunting world is often a term used to describe a harvest. While it is...

    Jug Choke Gunsmiths?

Leland Davis out of Wells, Kansas did mine. I’m very pleased with it

    Land Trust hunt

@Andrewmtnman at the time, they were in the process of deciding to expand or put some crew in a more focused area. Kansas only has one field agent (I can’t remember the technical term for it. Client Conservation Management Specialist? Something sounding similar to that.) but has a great number...

    Turkey Hunting with round ball

We also grew up in poverty. Can’t tell you how many meals we have out of a cast iron skillet or a crockpot. Seemed like it was every meal. It didn’t matter if it was farm raised or wild game (which was most of our sustenance). This last year I harvested my 39th gobbler. Can’t say I’ve ever had...

selecting a caliber for hunting? small game vs big game

Checking your local and destination regs will be in your favor. As stated before, .40 and below will serve you well for small game. I’ve shot Kansas whitetail with a .40, .54 & .58 and have yet to make a follow up shot. None have gone more than 50 yards. I have, however, harvested an elk with a...

    Turkey Hunting with round ball

I understand where their vitals are. Hunting them with a bow offers deceiving opportunities. I guess what I meant is how do you shoot them with a rifle without destroying the meat?

    Land Trust hunt

They’re located in 20+ states. Headquarters in Bozeman. It’s legitimate. Very conservation friendly I think they started 6-8 years ago and have slowly expanded. I think the idea will catch on as people realize they surrender so many rights through leasing and working through outfitters. This...

Turkey season look promising in my little part of the world

I had this in smoothbore section, but I just tested a bunch of shot loads in my 24 gauge Kibler. Should knock ‘em dead at 25 yards https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/shot-patterns.160172/#post-2280889

Turkey season look promising in my little part of the world

Where is ‘your neck of the woods’? Our rafters are diminishing rapidly in Kansas. I’ve taken a new hunter out for the last 3-4 years for spring thunder. I have located a few from last year, but I believe I’ll be hunting on my own with the numbers I’m seeing

    Land Trust hunt

What questions may you have? I actually interviewed with LandTrust a few months ago about them expanding more into Kansas (they’re going to be extending another agent in my neck of the woods in the future). As per hunting with them, I have not

    Turkey season.....

I was just talking to an individual in a hunting forum on this matter. He had a an American fowler built with a corelain barrel and he shoots #9 TSS, not shot cups involved. Amazing patterns at 50 yards per his picture (if true). Can’t speak on the well being of the barrel, though.

First time flintlock shooting with my Woodsrunner

With my two Kibler’s, I started out by sighting them in at 25 yards. This will take care of your left and right. Once you get comfortable and build some confidence in shooting, extend it to 50 yards to get your sights fine tuned.

Where in my previous posts did I mention body shots? No one likes lead in their nuggets

    Shot patterns

I mentioned it earlier, but it wasn’t a thought at the time. The shot did penetrate the wood about an 1/16-1/8”. I would think that should be sufficient on flesh
