CLOSED Unmarked .42 cal percussion rifle with Evans repeater barrel

Here’s a neat little piece. Unknown builder and era, but well executed. The barrel is from an Evans Repeating Rifle Co. New Model musket (only 1500 made in this configuration). Everything else appears to have been hand made. Little rifle is light, handy, and very accurate. Bore size is .425”...

CLOSED Antique W.D. Carlton .58 smoothbore

The bore actually measures .575”. A swaged .570 ball rides a cushion of air to the breech when dropped in the muzzle. This was built in the early 1860’s by Wales Carlton, a gunmaker in Woodstock, VT. The action closely resembles that of a Smith carbine. The bore is VG with some pitting near...

    WANTED ~.345" round ball mold

Looking for a .345-.347 round ball mold, or close thereabout. Lee made one years ago, 345RB. I think Ideal's number was 345-144. The rifle's barrel gauges at .356-.357", but has nice deep grooves, so there is some wiggle room on ball diameter. Cash, trade, or both, for your mold. Thank you!!!

    Other than Hoyt......

@maillemaker I had a barrel for a mule ear relined, and when it came back, there was a considerable amount of liner protruding past the nipple hole. I had to carefully file a notch in it and cut new threads in it for the nipple to fit correctly. It was returned to me with the nipple halfway...

    Other than Hoyt......

I know most of us here champion Mr. Hoyt. He has done some work for me, and mostly I have been really satisfied with it. Mainly reaming and re-rifling bores. The quality of his liner installations, on two different occasions have been a very mediocre ehhhhh. I have a really neat antique double...
