Hard, brittle, and fast PRB for more damage?

There are many variables and I have never shot an elk. However, in white tails, placement may be most significant. An arrow wound from a modern broadhead is a horrendous thing into which I could insert three fingers. I've had them go from a few yards to maybe fifty. A lung shot result in...

Hard, brittle, and fast PRB for more damage?

There is nothing at all wrong with a large caliber soft lead ball and it has done the job for hundreds of years. Soft lead allows the patch to grip it and guide it down the bore. As noted above, deformation and expansion upon impact creates a larger than bore size wound. Much depends on...

    Smoked Fish Cheese

Great job. I also had problems smoking Guda cheese. The lowest temp setting on my Pitboss is 200F and the cheese looked just like your photo. I may try again by doing it in several short stages and removing it before it gets too hot.

See my video above. After the pods have opened and the fluff is gone you will find a long puffy structure inside that the seeds form on. Tear off an end, leaving a ragged edge and strike your sparks into that.

Personal Care Lubricant for Muzzleloaders-What do you think?

Mutton tallow is now being sold as a skin moisturizer. I have been using it as a traditional patch lube with great success for several years.

    Pressure flaking top or bottom?

You can do either, but it is easier to take flakes off the flat side and take it out of the jaws. You want to come up from beneath the edge of the flint and pry the flakes off. This results in a finer edge such as the flint originally had. Driving off a flake in a downward angle while the flint...
