Storing black powder in a shed

A friend stores my bp outside in a wooden cabinet behind his workshop. I put the powder containers in a rubber/vinyl kayak drybag with the top rolled down and buckled and the bag goes in a plastic toolbox. Three years now and the powder flows freely and is full strength even though the cabinet...

    GSM Outdoors gets a boo

Des52, thanks for the info and trying to help, but unfortunately that is the number I called twice and no one in customer service there could do anything more than read from the pamphlet that comes in the kit. They wanted to be very helpful but just had no experience using the products and...

2nd time at the range with Drachenfeuer

Better go buy a lottery ticket, I bet today is your lucky day. Here's a tip, when you insert the fuse, turn your gonad (NO, I mean gonne! ;)) so the fuse is at 3 o'clock. That makes it easy to light it and it doesn't obstruct your view sighting down the barrel. If you're a southpaw, fuse goes to...

Praise for a member who deserves it.

A big shout out goes to Rafterrob. I bought a pistol from BigSkyRambler and have been searching for a schematic of this pistol that was sold in the 1980s. Rob dug through his stuff and emailed not only that, but a lot more very useful paperwork. The world could use a few more Robs. Thank you.:thumb:

    Praise for a deserving member.

I recently bought a pistol from BigSkyRambler. He made the entire process easy and enjoyable. He is 100% honest, trusting, and I would buy from him again w/o hesitation.

    Oh what a bummer. That's pathetic. 😱

    German Apprentice Project Thread

Sparkitoff and BigSkyRambler, you guys earned attaboys with oakleaf clusters. This will be an experience your student will always remember. Viel Gluck!

Handgonne touch hole & fuse diameters

I have only ordered and received fuse once, very recently. As I stated in a previous post, the box I received was marked hazmat. I expected a bright yellow or orange warning, but it was in small black print that probably wouldn't have been noticed by anyone not looking for it. It didn't matter...

    Speaking of arquebuses

Great video, but even with a closed pan cover and wearing shooting glasses, I would be leery of lighting the match and firing that close to my face.

What ML movie should be made now?

How about a really neglected and unappreciated piece of our history, the Jamestown colony in its first ten years.

    Looking for a schematic l

I will soon have a Hoppe's Ethan Allen .36 sxs caplocks pistol. I would like to get a copy of the schematic that came with the kit guns and possibly with the model 100 fully finished one. If anyone has one they could scan or copy and email me I'd appreciate it. Please PM if you can help. It...

    12L14 Steel good enough?

Frontstuffer, looks like you're going whole hogge handgonne! Good luck with the trip to the range. That RSO is going to think he's on Candid Camera (hope you are old enough to understand that reference.) Keep us informed.

    12L14 Steel good enough?

C'mon Frontstuffer, don't wimp out with front and rear sights on the barrel. Why not a Lyman globe front sight with interchangeable inserts near the muzzle and an aperture rear sight about 3 1/2 feet back on the tiller??? That would be so 14th century avant garde! P.S. ever think about a red dot? 🤔

SOLD - Pending funds Excellent Ethan Allen by Hoppes .36 sxs Derringer

What a TEMPTING beauty that is! I truly love derringers and other ancestors of todays CCW guns.

    12L14 Steel good enough?

Jesse from The Rifle Shoppe told me that he uses 12L14 for the handgonnes that he machines. I'm neither a metallurgist nor a welder but I can attest that the barrel is plenty strong enough for my 50gr loads of 3F launching the .715" ball.

Handgonne touch hole & fuse diameters

Perfume and nail polish and lithium batteries also must be marked hazmat if they go USPS. The reason is b/c they might cause damage to the carrier, the transport vehicle, or the mail processing system. The rules and regs make for interesting reading.
