Not sure.. I assume he was wondering if lubricants would be cleaner than water on patches. Other than this video.....Water is all I use to wet patches & clean with. I don't use any commercial products anymore.

Fulfilling another viewer's request this week. Testing WD-40 on patches verses water. Which presents a cleaner patch at the end of the day?

I never take locks apart. Pull them from the gun, wash them in soap & water. Put the hair dryer to them & oil using fresh 10W-30 motor oil. This process usually takes 6-8 minutes on a normal day of shooting. Put back on gun & store it in the safe.

Mrs maniac likes to shoot but hates to be on camera. If we go shooting without the cameras, she absolutely loves it much better! This as close as you'll see her on camera:

Today, I had the opportunity to talk about early American firearms at the fall state meeting of the Kentucky Society U.S. Daughters of 1812 held at First Vineyard Winery near Nicholasville, KY. Yes...all 4 black powder guns were "NOT" loaded and "yes" the ladies were interested in the history...

Our Sons of the American Revolution Chapter held a wreath ceremony today for Rev War Vet John Finley. We had 46 in attendance. Not too shabby for being 30 miles away from civilization in eastern KY.

For me: Swiss is #1....burns well and cleans the easiest. Schuetzen is good powder too. Cleans very easy too. I still have several pounds of Goex & quit using it when I discovered Swiss & Schuetzen. 50 caliber guns I use 50 grains ( 2F ) to plink & 70 grains for shooting items that are...
