    Ottoman Guns

Hello Vova. Welcome to the Forum. A very nice - and earlier (IMHO) -Ottoman/Turkish musket. From the photo of the muzzle it appears to be a smooth bore. Often referred to as a Tufuk versus a Shishane with a rifled barrel. Post #812 above is spot-on for the reason of the occasional "green"...

SOLD Old Original Shotgun Stock For Parts

Hello All. This stock was made for a small gauge double barrel percussion shotgun. The wood appears to be walnut. The wood stock itself really isn't good for much of anything except for using to remove wood to replace on another gun missing wood where period wood would usually be preferred...

    Curious Matchlock

Hi Flint I bought this gun for $125.00 - including shipping. The seller had no idea what it was other than some later hobbyist's project. And I wasn't about to tell him what he had. LOL I only wanted the gun to get the Omani barrel from it for my collection. Most of these barrels showup in...

    Curious Matchlock

Hi Rudyard. Hope all is well with You and Yours. I remember our conversations along with Puka about these Omani barrels. I believe it was in the Afghan Thread (?) Would have to check. Speaking of Puka, his farming season should soon be coming to a conclusion. Looking forward to his...

    anti-gun USPS

Holy Crap !!!! They even busted a schedule-40 pipe ? Sounds like a fork lift at one of the distribution centers ran over it - maybe more than once (?) Darn. Doesn't seem like anything is truly safe. Schedule-40 is plumbing pipe. Hard to believe they could bust that up. Schedule-80 is...

    Arrows?

REF: Posts # 28 and 29 above. While there is obvious evidence that they at least experimented using arrows with gonnes, it does appear that it may have been a short lived experience (?) The range and accuracy may have proven less than a large crossbow.

    Arrows?

Period experiments shooting arrows from a gonne seem to be a natural progression from the crossbow. Rick

4 bore English Blunderbuss is done.

Beautiful gun. And wonderful workmanship. While the blunderbuss is not very practical, they are a blast of fun to shoot. Congratulations. Pecatonica is such a handy service for those barrel and ramrod holes. Rick

    anti-gun USPS

A suggestion for shipping barrels - especially long barrels: Shippers hate long items and round tubes in general. They tend to fall off the conveyers and have to be hand carried to their next point. And agree, damage will usually occur at the distribution centers. The heavy wall cardboard...

    John Derrick Contemporary Rifle

Hi Flint I believe .45 is "just" enough for hunting in most States. If it shoots that good on your first three tries, I would have a tough time convincing myself to enlarge the caliber. However, I understand your thinking. It would be tempting. How much does this one weigh even with the...
