    John Derrick Contemporary Rifle

Hi Boom Yes, his guns were sold for what we would call bargain prices. I think all the extensive carving, inlays, and Rococo hardware together is a bit over the top for many shooters. I would include myself in that category. But mine is so light weight, I couldn't resist. LOL

    John Derrick Contemporary Rifle

Hi Flint. YES, you could post your Spanish influenced one here also. Good idea. "Becky's" lock. Why didn't I think of that. I even have a small belt pistol using that lock. Thanks for advising this old guy. LOL Rick

    John Derrick Contemporary Rifle

Hello ALL. I guess you could say this rifle was built using a Jager type general stock profile. But the lock, barrel profile, and hardware are all quite different. Reminiscent of the Rococo style of decoration during the 1720-1770 period. Heavy raised carving throughout the stock. Lots of...

    Ottoman Guns

Thanks again Cyten. While the holsters have nice, wide belt loops on the back, most of these holsters seemed to have been carried using a shoulder strap. My original double-pistol holster has no belt loop. Just the shoulder strap. The only original single holster I've examined had both...

My, my … now THOSE are bigguns!

Flint: Good Shoot'n !!!! I knew this gun was going to a good home. I remember it did indeed hold/point well for a 10-lb. gun. The build quality was first rate. It's such a great example of an early 1600 transition to flint ignition. What's also interesting is the butt stock design. It...

    Ottoman Guns

From another Bulgarian craftsman is this traditional style loading rod (ramrod) for pistols. Most of the Ottoman Empire style pistols were made without a ramrod provision under the stock. Or fitted with with a short piece of rod as a styling exercise often called a false ramrod. The locals...

    Ottoman Guns

Hello ALL Thanks to the assistance of Cyten while traveling in Bulgaria, he was able to connect me with a two of the local craftsmen in the area. Here are my new holsters (I believe one term is Kuburluk ?) to go along with my original Balkan pistols. Since the two pistols are not an actual...

    Escopetas again

During the 1990's a Canadian friend (and past business associate) moved to Vietnam and purchased a small machine shop. He had a partner who was Vietnamese who could read, write, and speck both languages fluently. Their shop's specialty was making patterns. This, for a variety of new products...

    Ottoman Guns

REF: Post #798 above. Hi Cyten. I hope he does agree. Would be fun and interesting. I've always found it curious over the many years that collectors of "Eastern" type arms were so fond of their blades and armor, but the guns left as somewhat of an after thought. There never seemed to be...
