SOLD Pre-Dixie Gunworks - Turner Kirkland flintlock 45 cal $500 Shipped price

A little ugly but functions well with a good bore, there is pitting on the mirror finish on the OUTSIDE of the Barrell, I tried to show it well in the photos I believe it could be polished out or would be substantially improved aesthetically by a rust bluing. Seems like a bubba build but the...

I wanted a Hawken style...

Blown out patches? bore, crown, patching material, lube where to start?

Problem solved! Patches staying together nicely! Had a group with 3 shots touching at 35 yards and decent groups out to 45 (didn’t push it further!) hopefully I can tighten the groups up with some load development, and practice! Steps I took 1. Sanding the sharp edge off the crown with 320...

    Torn patches!

Good luck! Same gun same issue same club what are the chances, seems like you’re a little further down the rabbit hole than me on this. I’m trying a few other patch materials on my next outing if that plays a part I’ll share my findings. Seems like your patches are only slightly ripped compared...

Blown out patches? bore, crown, patching material, lube where to start?

Also ran a 0000 steel wool wrapped 50 cal cleaning brush down it for a few passes, felt no resistance or hang ups so I think I’m good to go on the rifling! Hopefully it was just the crown! I’ll be testing tomorrow and will report back

gave it a few spins with 320 with the thumb followed it up with 500. I think I broke the sharp edge I don’t want to overdo it

Blown out patches? bore, crown, patching material, lube where to start?

Noted on the polishing, holding off on scrubbing the barrel and just hitting the crown before going out today. Pre lubed patches lubed with 6 parts water 1 part ballistol the day prior. Schuetzen 2F powder. Focus right now is more of a target load.

Blown out patches? bore, crown, patching material, lube where to start?

Wow so not that much needs to be taken off really just breaking the corner I guess or is special care taken when the rifle in the left when loading? Useful info I was about to at it like a madman, I actually don’t have 320 grit on hand but I’m thinking the 500 I have should work with just a...
