    Jim Kibler : Open House

and some more photos. Jim had rifles on display, of course. The new Woods Runner was there. If you never ordered a Kibler Kit before, this is how you get it. A Southern Mountain on top, and a Colonial on the bottom. Jim also will build or partially build a kit gun for you. Two Southern...

    Jim Kibler : Open House

Some photos I promised. We start off with the wood scrap piles being picked over. Most of the people went for the dried wood. Greener wood was in the near pile. Some staff getting things ready. The lunch line was a popular place to be as the food was great. George "Mr. Flintlock" Sutton holding...

    Jim Kibler : Open House

I went on Friday. Drove from wild western Illinois. my GPS put me in Lima, Ohio as opposed to where my hotel was north of Kibler's shop. For me, it was well worth it. People were told to bring their guns to show. I brought my SMR. I had people looking it over and admiring it like crazy, as did...

Lubing Lee REALs-what am I doing wrong?

When at the range, I have a piece of waxed paper with me, a large piece, just folding it will keep it small. I put down a tab of Bore Butter and roll the REAL's in it before putting it down the barrel and have not had a problem. The only bad thing is I have to bring a cooler to contain the Bore...

    SMR kit

Get the Kibler. I got the Southern Mountain (look for my thread in flintlocks - Southern Mountain Start to Finish). The reason I got the SMR was that I had a Pedersoli Jaeger and the Kibler Colonial looked too much like it. Besides, I liked the looks of the mountain rifles. Experience. Two...

    SMR kit

So was I, knowing there were some kits lesser in price, but NONE will have the quality and leave you so happy as pulling the trigger on a Kibler. Trust me, I'm a lawyer. 😄 The Doc is out now.

    NMLRA fighting

Being a member of a local gun club I have seen these types of things before. Honestly, I did not even notice what was going on politically within the NMLRA. I really can't afford to up and run over to Friendship. I read MB for the articles on history, food, and guns (sometimes knives and powder...

Happiness is Three Kiblers in process!

I don't have the skills I once had. Got old, no guessing there. It was a Kibler for me. The Doc is out and getting ready for a nap now. PS, have you seen this picture recently on another webpage? I'm really proud that it made it there. 😊

Shot my kibler smr for the first time yesterday

Yes, it IS Your rifle. Do it the way YOU want to. Originally, I was going to do walnut and stain it really dark to imitate age. However, the look of the curl in the maple was too much to bear and I got regular maple. it practically glimmers in the sun and I could not be happier. Do what you...

    First Flinter?

When I ordered, I told them I was not going to pester them. I did ask my questions prior to ordering and Jim answered promptly both times. I kept true to my word about not bothering them, too. They have a hell of a backlog right now and if you check their website, you will see wait times. Jim...

    First Flinter?

I am a novice at gun building. That is what attracted me to the Kibler, that most of the hard stuff has been done, and it is up to you to do the rest. Just have the tools he recommends and even with two left thumbs you should be able to build it. I did. PS. I even did a little carving of the...

    First Flinter?

Have you tried or seen a Kibler? For what it is, a CNC machined kit, it is a great gun. I am by no means a gunsmith, but I churned out a gun that is now on their website as an example of what can be done, even by a novice. I had a Pedersoli and I can now see the flaws in it that I only learned...

    Jewelers saw blades---Wondering.

http://www.hobbylinc.com/zona-adjustable-frame-jewelers-saw-hobby-razor-saw-35-750 I got this saw and some blades and did not need the extra blades. The nice thing is that when a blade breaks, you can just make it into a smaller saw. I did not have a blade break though. just take it easy and...

Flintlock Slow Mo and lagged ignition

I agree with Norman Brooks. Looked a lot like there was very little spark.

Hate to sound excited...but my Kibler is on the way!

"Whispery thin". Yes, that is a great way to express how that stock is. I could not believe how thin my SMR was when it arrived. I just had not had any experience other than seeing these types of guns behind glass at museums. Now don't worry about being clumsy, you will be able to get it done...

    Thank you very much.

Jim Kibler SMR. start to finish.

No. I put brass blackening solution on the barrel and the lock. The lock did not color as good as the barrel and the barrel did not color as good as the trigger guard, thimbles and butt plate. However, in person, it looks like an old worn finish. The Doc is out now.

    Ordered a Pedersoli Jaeger

Go to Capandball on YouTube. He has and shoots for competition the same gun. He has that gun on his Youtube videos. The Doc is out now.

    Pedersoli Lock Tuning

The late Paul Vallandingham wrote about the Pedersoli lock and it being a rock breaker. His solution was to grind down the mainspring little by little and keeping water nearby to cool it down. I did this with my Jaeger and it does not wear out flints anymore.
