Why not use the old spring, save some work and the new spring or is it weak?

One of the problems with the internet is, people search till they find the answer they want.

In NJ they suspended deer hunting a couple times for several years. Once around 1860 and again around 1900. They imported deer in the early 1900s to build back the herd. Think this may have from war or hide hunting.

I'm going back to 50s thinks in the 70s or 80s is when the changes took place. Not sure just going from memory and sometime it's a little foggy.

What kind of velocity would be needed to pass through an average deer double lung shot, with 50 cal PRB at 50 yds.

I've taken the journey, with a block of wood to a rifle, it was fun, challenging and turned out pretty nice. Next time it will be a Kibler because it was a long journey.

I use a single trigger set light on all my guns. With a set trigger I'm afraid a "squirrel will fart and it will go off", to quote I think, ETipp.

I'm shooting a PRB 50. cal 42" barrel and getting 1700 fps. I would love to slow it down, but I'm not confident it would do the job. From what I'm reading slower may be better, Just how slow can I go? I'm not shooting over 50 yds as a rule.

Had one smoldering pretty good the other day and I was using Mink Oil.

If I'm using 2f powder I use a .0625 touch hole, using 3f I use a bit smaller maybe .055. I don't like the powder coming out into the pan, I like it piled against the the inside of the touch hole. I think your problem is something else, like to much oil in the breech, wiping between shots and...

Personally I would of never used wood with that grain direction in a gunstock or would of oriented it differently
