When did replica cap and ball revolvers become popular? Possibly the 1890s...

Here is an interesting read about those neat Belgian Brevete Colt's. I didn't realize they were made so long after the Rollin White patent expired. Maybe popular in countries where cartridges couldn't be purchased...

    Ugly Stained Stock

I was thinking that too, it gives an impression of looking fairly authentic for a military arm of that era.

Recommended revolver parts to upgrade or have as spares?

I have a Uberti 1860 made in 1979 and I replaced the bolt recently. The springs seemed a little higher quality during that era but spare bolt/trigger springs and spare hands as mentioned. Might be harder to find but a replacement hammer is probably next on the wear list, the little cam the...

Colt ships arms to the Confederates.

I read that Colt quietly wrote off the $25,000 debt years later. Colt knew that the Texas border and frontier was in danger from Mexican bandits and Comanches and probably saw it as a donation to a greater cause and his friends in need in the Republic of Texas.

When was the last percussion shotgun sold in the United States

My 1960 Stoeger catalogue has an ad for those, if I have time I'll post it. It is an interesting subject, the availability of muzzleloading supplies historically.

When was the last percussion shotgun sold in the United States

I have seen American Flask and Cap co catalogs still printed in the 1890s (I think frugal meat hunters didn't want to give up perfectly good percussion pieces for expensive breechloaders) Sears Catalogs in 1902, and 1980 were still selling percussion supplies and firearms. There may have been a...

    Building 4 Bore Rifle #2

I just finished part 10 on the 4 bore. Enjoying the progress greatly. Very informative and entertaining. I will probably never attempt something so ambitious but I appreciate the videos you share. If I ever embark on a kit I will have learned some useful tips for sure. Thank you.

    Maximum loads for 1858 Remington

Maybe a Ruger Old Army or replica of a Colt Dragoon may be more adept for 1000 fps from a conical.

Now forbidden to send (empty of course) replica powder flask from UK to USA

You have to be creative that's for sure! No other sport I know of is as endangered as this one, at least the long established international trade part.

Now forbidden to send (empty of course) replica powder flask from UK to USA

I just heard back from the vendor (about making the purchase and having it sent to a UK address). Apparently, the kerfuffle with shipping the flask to me without the proper licensure brought the wrath of UK customs upon them, and they are no longer able to receive payments from the US for...
