    Lodgewood defarb musket stock stain

I'd like to complete a refinish job on my Armi Sport 1861 Springfield. I just can't get over the plasticky, walmart veneer looking finish on this gun! From the pics I've seen on the Lodgewood site of their defarb'd guns, that dark, brown/black reddish/purplish finish really looks good to me...

Loading down for a .62 flinter

Howdy from down in Los Lunas. No way would I use anything over 100 gr for target shooting. Just too much recoil only to put a hole in paper or clang steel. Use just enough to get the ball downrange with decent accuracy. I find that 45-80 grains works in everything I have, from .45 through...

    How small is too small?

If your patch material is a wool sweater, it'll work! A ball of .480-.495(maybe) plus a ticking patch of .015-.018" is the ticket. Really should mic the bore. They do vary from rifle to rifle.

¿Dumb question about Kibler flintlocks and WTS listings on this site?

...to raise funds to buy another kit! That's what I SHOULD do but can't part with the Colonial OR the Woodsrunner. Unless the coming fowler just cannot be resisted and das fed pillages my savings, which is typical every April.

    Pawn Stars

It was smaller inside that camera angles would indicate. The back of it was blocked off with a roll down metal door, I think it was. I do believe they film or did film in there with access control to visitors. It's all structured for ratings. Some carny was out in the parking lot selling...

    WANTED WANTED: .575 MINIEBALLS

If you plan to do some serious shooting, get a lead pot and a mold. It's not that difficult, really. Some fellers here sell pure lead ingots or get it locally. Have you pin gauged the bore to see if .575 is truly what you need? Ideal Minie Ball should be .001-.002" under land to land bore...

    Let's talk BALLS!

Metal in liquid form is just too much fun. Casting is relaxing and allows you total control over quality. You can reject the bad ones, cull those outside an acceptable weight range and just chuck back into the pot. I really enjoy it.

    Mr Bobby Hoyt

I sincerely hope Mr. Hoyt has an apprentice learning the trade. Nobody lives forever and this kind of service is clearly in high demand.

Mike Beliveau injured in fall, doing OK.

Saw this post from his son today. Get well soon, Mike! The man has had a damn rough time lately. "This is Mike’s son Rob: Mike had a fall at his home on Thursday the 15th. He dislocated his left shoulder, broke his right arm, and broke his T6 vertebrae. He spent a week in hospital where his...

    Musket Cap Source?

Grafs is outstanding. I recently noted they had Swiss 3f and could not pass it up. Grabbed 1k musket caps as well to make most use of the hazmat charge. They're a squared away, stand-up business. Will buy more from them, even if I don't need it!

weight of trigger pull on a Kibler Woodsrunner

Yup. My WR trigger is crisp and light. Just fine as it is without any extra effort taken on the internals.

MilitaryHeritage.com ( Access Heritage Inc ) Imperial Guard Infantry Musket. 1766 or 1777?

I have to wonder why the Indian (and Italian) makers can't just make the adjustments and get them right.

    Black powder or Pyrodex

Have lots of both. Won't use Pyro until the black is gone and/or cannot be found anymore. I have enough to last me several lifetimes.

What doesn't work as patch lube?

Liberal tears. Makes your shots hit too far to the left.
