With respect to your post: I also see a vice, level, wrenches and a nice tape measure. Make sure you say what is excluded if there is. Larry

Broken Half-Cock on AMR Patriot Copy

You could do that, but you need to think hard about capping. Capping as you know will be at FULL cock and or while you are trying to hold the hammer back and thumb mumble a cap on that way. Neither is a good choice for safety. You can get it fixed if you make it a priority! Good luck, Larry

Broken Half-Cock on AMR Patriot Copy

That would require heat treating also. I assume the OP woud have to farm that out. Not an inexpensive route in MO. Larry

    Have you bought?

Oh no, don't tell your boss here! 😂 Larry

How long would you go when using spit patches without concern?

2 or 3 days Spit is good enough to get the patch down and that is all on MO unless shot immediately. A spit patch is not going to cause any rust in MO unless it stays moist/wet for a period of time A wet patch dripping is not good for the powder. Not sure if you are still taking spit patch. Larry

    Have you bought?

Yes, My first two: a Tower Jap flintlock pistol (60s) and a Dixie Gun Works 45 cal Roman nose flintlock rifle (1971). Had no clue what was historic. Didn't care either, I wanted a muzzleloader! Larry

    Kibler percussion conversion ?

If you like it fine, your choice. I hate conversions! Just someone's round about way to arrive at a cross/change in ignition systems. Larry

    ramrod tip ?

Are you using a starter to get the ball into the bore 3 to 4 inches? Larry Your patch should not be higher than the top of the ball

WITHDRAWN Thompson Center Fire Storm .50 with 209 primer ignition + 1000 primers

Respectfully you have a non traditional ignition system there. This is a traditional ML website. Got to believe the mods will not approve. Good luck. Larry

    Touch hole insert

You do not need to be surgery germ free here. Hot soapy water, swab bore and scrape the breech plug. Dry and fully rust treat the bore, and TH with your favorite lube/anti rust. Removing the plug is a waste of time with the risk of damage to the screw slot as well as the threads. Larry

I FINALLY shot my Woodsrunner for the first time!

Lower sights in my opinion look more authentic, but if you are range shooting with a little warm air you will get mirage. I like to keep mine a little higher. Get the load and good group developed before you mess with the sights. Larry

    Rifle plug removal, field removal

Bad idea! Please just learn how to pull a ball and be prepared to do so. Your shooting experiece will be much happier!! Plugs are made to stay unless there is a gunsmithing issue. A stuck ball is a shooting issue. Larry Larry

    Rifle plug removal, field removal

Good idea! If it were on the hoist ya wouldn't have to crawl under to take the plug out. 😂 Larry

How do you like your horns?

Simple, for my use, with one small brass star and a little carving on the plug. I do however appreciate good scrimshaw. Not to be confused with scratching the horn like a wanaby artist. Don't get me wrong a feller has to start somewhere, but scratching isn't scrimshaw IMO. Larry
