Good on ya for making a rifle shootable again.

    Hunting with the GPR

I think that there should be at least a five year requirement of hunting that a person must complete before becoming eligible to be on boards to make or alter hunting regulations.

    Photos from "Desert Expedition 1864"

About ten or twelve years ago I was going up to Orofino Idaho to help with long range shooting instruction. I was on the road that goes north through Ely Nevada about five miles out of town. Nothing much there and looked somewhat like your camping area. I had decided to camp out instead of...

    "Restoring" a basket case original.

Well the OP said early on he wanted to make it structurally sound and a shooter again. I guess he did whether anybody liked it or not. His gun he can do what works for him.

    Our Cannons

Boy, I'll bet that hit rang like a bell waking some folks up.

    Pietta 1851 noobie first impressions

Shoot. I like 7 yards, that's just across the room which is what I want. Longer ranges are for target shooters which I'm not anymore with a hand gun.

I just couldn't help myself today

I have bought a half dozen or so guns from members of this board and have always been satisfied with the purchase. Good people here. Always gave a good description of what they were selling. As far as rust and bad bores goes, shoot whatever propellant you like but clean afterwards. Not...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Deerstalkert you reminded me of why I'm not married. Thank you brother. Sometimes need to be reminded.

    Biggest Game You've Taken?

3 elk and 3 deer and two wild boars. Unfortunately none with a muzzle loader. 99?% of my hunting has been small game and birds and varmints.

Jim & Barbie Chambers Where Are You?

Lawyers and insurance companies along with big business are running the country. They are all money driven machines and we are the one's that get to pay like it or not.

Wife got me an early Anniversary gift.

A J Fara, Gardone Italy. I think has something to do with who made the rifle, not positive though.

    Follow through

All I know is that I learned to follow through when shooting serious High Power rifle and my scores improved a lot. Same applies to the muzzle loaders that I shoot nowadays, I still have trouble with the flintlocks due to the way the lock works but I'm working on it.

    It appears that…..

I think about the only two things I have screwed up and not done with a muzzle loader is to shoot someone or launched a rod down range, but there is still time.

The Words We Use and How They Define Us

In my personal vernacular when I gotta pee or something I go to the bathroom and everyone understands what I'm doing or where I'm going. I kill things with a gun or bow and arrow and everyone understands that too. All this discussion nit picking about weapons, firearms, whatever else is boring...

    too complicated

I have a living trust on all my property and my youngest son is the first trustee upon my demise. He wants to keep all my guns or I would have sold most of them off long ago. It's good to plan ahead.

    too complicated

I posted some pictures of a rifle that I had obtained a couple of years ago but I'll be darned if I can remember how I did it. Aging minds are a mystery.

The Words We Use and How They Define Us

I think if a person thinks enough of an animal to kill it he should think enough of it to care for it after killing it, or he shouldn't.

The Words We Use and How They Define Us

I think that city folk and country folk by way of their raising use different language to express ideas. Where a person raised in a hunting family would probably use a different word for the processing of a dead animal from the kill to the butchering of same than a person that was raised in a...

    Hunt for Arrowheads

Up in Northern Az While elk hunting near Winslow we would find native trash piles, ancient natives, and there would be tons of pot shards but precious few points or pieces of points. I always wondered about the lack of stone points in these places.
