    Ignition while loading

I used to shoot with a group in upstate NY. 12-15 met each Sunday in a heated building and shot at 50 and 100 yd targets thru a hole in an exterior door. One of the participants had a TC from its custom shop. We all swabbed between shots with a damp patch since we had plenty of time. This...

How good are L+R locks as a Hawken “drop in”

I put one in my Renegade, the wood removal was not difficult, the instructions from L&R are very good and the lock works great! I did brown my lock.

Fixing the set trigger on CVA Trapper

Looked and I have a Traditions Trapper. Attached you’ll find the adjustment instructions for it. Didn’t know CVA named their pistol Trapper also. (Or are they the same company?) The rear trigger is the set trigger, the front is the firing trigger. The TC Patriot was the reverse, which to me...

Fixing the set trigger on CVA Trapper

I saw this happen on a TC Hawken that sat too long. Remove the trigger assembly from the rifle, clean the whole mechanism with some solvent and a soft toothbrush, then lubricate it lightly. Research adjustment of that trigger. The adjustment screw is easier to turn and apply thread lock while...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Here’s some pics of as cast and tumbled. Sprue is hard to see on tumbled ball, dimensions hold steady.

Harbor Freight, double canister, with a small piece of pencil graphite with the balls. Hope they shoot as good as they look.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I cast .490 &.495 round ball this morning, probably 150 each. Pulled out an old ladle, short handle, 9” overall and realized how much easier it was to use than my new fangled long handle one, 12” overall. Was going to give the shorty away, but changed my mind. Roll tumbled them with lead from...

    Greetings from rural NY

Central rural NY is quite the area. Here’s a club, I’d shoot at once or twice a year. It’s rural and in Central NY. Good luck with your projects. You

    opinions wanted

If you live near Fayetteville or Dunn, NC there are groups that I’m sure will have a member with musket caps, and knowledge on the musket you’ve purchased.

    October Postal Match target

Put a peep sight and hooded front sight on my Green Mtn. Barreled TC Renegade. Not a great group, but I do believe I shot a 60 on the target. Lower left jaw taken out. Once you do an overlay Gary, correct me if I’m wrong. .495 ball, .018 ticking, 40 grains OE 3F. Hoppes BP Solvent for...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Got my invoice for 5 lbs of 3F Goex from Powder, Inc. $21.28 per pound, $106.40, shipping and hazmat, $82.00. Per pound cost $37.68. Would recommend you find some friends to split a case with. A case shipped comes out to just over 23.00 shipped. I really don’t mind the cost, I’m glad Goex...

That’s a very interesting lock! Would love to see a pic of the inside. With one trigger, wondering how it interacts with sear and tumbler.

Here’s all the pictures I received from my friend in WV. An ornate rifle for sure. No pics of the sights and never got a full length photo.

    In my father’s safe. . .

Get involved in the hobby and restore and shoot them. I have a back action Golcher lock 50 cal. Smoothbore that my father found while exploring some new property and buildings mid 1950’s. Broken stock, no drum, no trigger guard. Cleaned up leaned on our fireplace for 45 years until I...
