    Thoughts when buying a gun

There are shotguns you could paddle both ways and hunt with. But you want to strip, clean and oil them after.

    Thoughts when buying a gun

Depends. ML or suppository. ML has to be elegant. Suppository I would really like belt fed. Which can be elegant in its own right. EG the MG34.

    Thoughts when buying a gun

When I go on water it is salt. Paddles are not useful. You need oars.

    Rabbit hunting and gear

Don't care for the orange either. But if someone else with a gun will be within a mile of me I wear it. I did not survive being shot at on purpose to be shot by accident.

    To go left-handed or not

Detached retina and surgery left me at 20/500 in my dominant right eye. No choice but to learn to shoot left handed. Pellet gun and/or .22's you can do a lot of practice shooting without breaking the bank. Need I say that I am VERY careful of my left eye? Shooting glasses. Goggles when I mow...

    Pattern paper..

Went to school in Philadelphia. Sometimes after class would beg sheets of that paper from salesladies at the Wanamaker store. Took them to the observation platform 500 plus feet up on tyhe City Hall tower and sent them off as giant paper airplanes. That stopped when we discovered girls.

    Trying to lighten the cookware

Colin Fletcher was a well known backpacker and he did LONG hikes. He was very concerned with weight and would even file down the handle of a toothbrush to make it lighter. His book "The Complete Walker" is likely still in your local library and is still available for purchase. Read about his...

Cleaning using compressed air in cans

If you have an Amish community in your area you have access to more air compressor knowledge than you will ever need. No electricity but they can have an IC engine. A large Amish property may have an air tank that looks like a railroad tank car. A typical kitchen will be "plumbed" with air...

In a club with ranges. Do not like to go weekends/holidays. Too many kibbitzers. Usually if I go on a weekday I have the place to myself.

    Gardening ..again

I like the idea of running tubes and adding drip emitters. But not enough to do it. Rather be a gerdner than a plumber.

    SOLD Coehorn Mortar $750

16 Hours one way. 32 Hours round trip. If I paid myself minimum wage for the drive I would be adding $232 to the cost of the mortar. Not to mention gas, tolls, and wear and tear on the car. You could probably ship it cheaper than that by FedEx. But I guess you do not knowhow to package it.

    Gun safety

God gave you two barrels for a reason. If you miss the first, or second bird. If there is some other misfortune. When you are done for the day just fire off the second barrel. Clean and lube the gun and put it away unworried about a forgotten load.

    Joann's - what am I doing wrong ?

While you are shopping for patch material see if they have pure cotton diaper flannel. Wash it and cut into handkerchief size pieces. Been using it for cleaning my eyeglasses and other optics for years. No scratches. A yard of it has lasted 15 years.

    Gardening Round2 Deer problem

Yes, but. Better make it command detonated and hide the whiskey when you are holding the trigger. One wrong move and you will be looking at concrete walls for the rest of your time on earth.

    Gardening Round2 Deer problem

Rural here. Plenty of deer browse and they do not often bother my wife's garden. When they do I wish for Claymores.
