Their Baker rifle comes with an incorrect cleaning rod that has a large hump making the rod too thick and heavy. Also the end of the rod is incorrect as being too thick. I belt sanded the hump out of the rod thinning it out to achieve a more accurate look (based on the original rod). After...

I have done it both ways. Using excessive force to load is not enjoyable for me and has to be bad for the barrel. I tend to stick to muskets and paper wrapped cartridges these days.

Dave, I found out about sewn on patches and also leather wrapped balls so I thought wrapping and tying made sense. I dip the wrapped balls in olive oil beeswax mix and store them in a tin in my shooting bag. I load them with the tie up and I'm pretty sure the string breaks when fully seated. At...
