Tastefully done. To my eye just the right amount of carving.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Dude, I mailed my last one to my brother recently for his new Uberti 1851 Navy. I will be making replacements soon. I will be sure to post them.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

The snow is still hip deep, but it was a sunny day and temp was a balmy 36F (2C) on the mountain today. So, I put on snowshoes and trekked out to the southeast corner of the meadow, scratched a steel plate out of the snow and shot a cylinder's worth out of the Uberti 1860 Army that a couple of...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Tom A Hawk, Yes I colored them. They were white when I acquired them from ebay. I used Fiebing leather dye. A mix of Golden Brown and Yellow. I slathered the dye onto the grips and let it sit for a day. I then buffed the grips with a wool cloth. As you are undoubtedly aware polymer doesn't take...

It508th, Thank you. Those are beautiful holsters you have made. The stitching is excellent and the carving is unique. I sourced the waxed pigskin from Tandy's website.

    Remington holster

Finished a second holster this weekend. This one for my Uberti Remington 1858 NMA. Think I'll start on one for my Walker next.

I'm making some holsters for a couple of recently acquired C&B revolvers. I finished this one yesterday. All of my C&B revolvers get Slim Jim or flap holsters. Finished the holster for my Uberti Leech & Rigdon and have now begun working on a holster for the Uberti Remington 1858 NMA. Made with 9...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Made a Slim Jim holster for my Uberti Leech & Rigdon. I'm no fan of thin unlined commercial holsters so I make my own holsters out of 9 0z Herman Oak leather with pigskin lining.

The cylinder engraving has to go.

pacanis, wooden dowel wrapped in two-sided tape inserted into the arbor bore then chucked into a power drill that I anchored to the table with a clamp I used a sanding block graduating from 80 to 120, 220, 400, 800 grit. Worked like a charm!

The cylinder engraving has to go.

Got it done. Roll engraving on a Confederate revolver is just plain wrong, shame on Uberti. Thank you to all of you kind enough to offer your advice. I put it to good use and I'm pleased with the results.

I have two of the Pedersoli trade guns, brass front sight on both.

The cylinder engraving has to go.

64Springer and TDM, Thanks for the information. I plan to secure a bolt through the arbor bore and chuck the bolt into a drill press then using sandpaper remove the engraving from the rotating cylinder.

The cylinder engraving has to go.

The Uberti Leech & Rigdon arrived today from Dixie Gun Works. It will get the usual cleanup, inspection and fine tuning (yes, that includes addressing the short arbor). The cylinder engraving is not HC, I find that annoying. The engraving will have to go. Has anyone removed cylinder engraving...

    Authentic Mountain Man Experience?

My experience with moose has been similar to your's. They behave similar to the horses that also frequent my property. They go about their business paying little to no mind of my presence. I'm not doubting other's experience. I am saying my experience over the years has been that they are fairly...
