    Pedersoli trade gun kit questions

The Pedersoli Trade Gun Kit as thomasgunn pointed out comes pre assembled. The only thing left to do is any adjustments to dimensions or appearance if any in order to suit you, and apply finish to wood and metal. As kits go it could not be easier. Below is the one I completed from a kit. It is a...

Pillow ticking , same both sides ?

Blue ticking should only be used at night. The red ticking is for daylight shooting. Understandably, newbies often get the two confused. Just remember "low wavelength/low light, high wavelength/high light". That's how the old-timers managed to keep it straight.

I made a leather cover for my pocket flask. Feels much better in hand than bare brass.

You have a nice specimen there, Aussie Pete. it's true they are heavy, like a proper Hawken. Helps tame the recoil and make for a steady hold. I use the same load as you, 60 gn Swiss FF, .530 ball, pillow ticking patch for general shooting and 80 gn FF for hunting. They are great rifles not to...

She is deadly accurate. She is capable of printing cloverleaf patterns at forty yards from the bench on those sporadic occasions when I do my part correctly. A very nice rifle. No buyer's remorse what so ever. My only complaint was the epoxy like brown coating on the barrel. It's a very durable...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Thought I would make a slim jim holster today, but when I got settled at my work bench I was feeling a shooting bag instead. The holster will have to wait until tomorrow.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I was in the mood to do some leather work today. Made a flask pouch and a gun belt for my 1860 Army. If I'm still in the mood tomorrow I will make a slim jim holster to match the belt.

    Walker or Dragoon ?

I salvaged the parts from a worn out donor gun. Using a hand file I cut a dovetail into the barrel, cut off the tip of the lever, filed a slot in the lever to accommodate the latch, installed and pinned the spring and latch in place, then blued the parts. It was all done with hand tools and...

    It needs something...

It's fine as it is but it does have untapped potential. To suit my taste I would lose the fringe, sew on a bound edge, add a pewter or antler button, then the natural patina and wear from heavy use will make for a handsome bag.

    Walker or Dragoon ?

I have a respectable number of BP and suppository handgun and despite it being the heaviest and therefor most unwieldily my Walker is my favorite. So gratifying to shoot that it gets chosen more often than any of my other handguns. I resolved the issue of the loading lever dropping in the same...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Low effort, but feel like at least I accomplished something. Hung some gear on the wall. Liked it, so I will continue to hang gear until I run out of gear or wall, whichever occurs first.
