    Most affordable smoothbore kit

Is price the only criteria? Quality can be bottom of the barrel?

    Advice on getting started crafting.

Get a leg up quick training with a professional. Many of them offer classes and instruction.

    Lock Tuner Info requested

Careful to not make a mess of something not needing a fix. Too many jack-legs with a shingle out there and most people wouldn't know if their Kibler lock had been up or down graded when they got it back.

    Juried Rendezvous

Looks like the juried events are the things listed below "juried events". In other words it looks like those listed events will be judged by a jury..... Best camp, etc. If not the case, the flyer could use a re-write or expansion to clarify. With the wide range of dates the whole event can't be...

Historically accurate example of Flint, Full stock, hooked breech, barrel wedges?

I can certainly understand this line of thought also if one has the money to spend on something that may end up a dog's dinner, they have access to a good instructor or maybe they may be a prodigy. I have always tended to be a little conservative knowing I had a one shot with my available cash...

Historically accurate example of Flint, Full stock, hooked breech, barrel wedges?

I would not recommend standing hook breeches and sliding keys for a first build by any means. I would go with a Kibler Woodsrunner. High quality and a lot of work done for you correctly out of the box.

Who makes the longest barrel currently

I put together a gun that had a 72" Ed Rayl barrel but I think his current setup is 66 IIRC

    1750 period rifle

Yes, the Kibler Woodsrunner. It has a quality lock and barrel and the hard part is done as it comes to you. When and if the person moves to something else, they still have a best quality kit. The other flintlocks you mention come with more problems and frustrations and a much smaller sales...

    Kentucky pistol carry

Large holster pistols in pommel buckets for a saddle, small ones in the pocket. You see many pistols in pairs sur to their use and as the barrels were made together as one piece, breeches to the ends.

    Hammer or cock

The hammer on a flintlock is the frizzen.

Does anyone make a full round or swamped smoothbore fowler barrel with a flat on the top near the breech?

Ed Rayl has made me some barrels like that but hand file work still needs to be employed. Unless that is a Spanish pattern barrel, the bottom is round.

    Dial Calipers

I use a Starrett and also have some vernier tools which i.csn hardly see. Most all those calipers will be accurate enough for government work that calipers should be used for. For precision I go to my mics.
