    Lifespan of a Rifle?

It's a good question. So many got lost over time, broken beyond repair, lost in fire or floods, (just like today's awful floods down South!) Most simply "disappeared", in a sense, over time as modern guns took their place. Plus, the old-timers didn't have all the 'miracle' lubes, homemade...

Hi Everyone, Also from South Carolina

Used to pop over the bridge from Augusta, GA, to Edgefield, SC, when at Ft. Gordon back in the day.

Good for you! Thanks. The N-NSA is a great organization that's kept the science of those period guns up to snuff. I did Rev War enacting for 10 years 75-85. Both Armies!

    TRS M1776 Rifle

Update; to Nov. 23, 2024. I bought the M1776 from my pal. It's nicely assembled, haven't shot it yet. Really cool, it's like a Bess carbine combined with a Germanic-type rifle gun; he said a gunsmith in PA assembled it, Woodall? maybe the name. Don't really know, but 4 guys in his 'unit' ordered...

    Ruger Old Army

Meanwhile, here in the US, silencers are selling like popcorn at the movies, and you can even "buy one get one free" nowadays. The wait time was streamlined and companies got into the business, handling the paperwork, etc.

For anyone considering an Indian manufactured Flintlock

I recently showed my India-made Bess to an experienced re-enactor, and he commented on how nice the lock worked; easy to cock, etc. It was mfg. in the late 1970's or so. Just my take on just one musket I got at auction in the 80's.

Rebuild of an antique American Side hammer pistol

Great! Probably a target-type, what with the 'saw handle' grip! Let us know! Like the belt clip, too! Meant for carrying, if original to the gun.

    Davy Crockett King Frontier

You and I are on the same wavelength! Watched part of Grit's "Mag. Seven" last night for hundreth time, it's a real fine movie; the cast was unbelievable! Not a muzzle loading movie, but it's black-powder era just the same! When a kid, I'd pretend to "load" my imaginary "gun" with soft, fine...
