    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

@ETipp 's thread has strayed WAY off of squirrel hunting (sorry Ed), but the above made me remember a funny tree stand event I'll relate: I'm up in a stand, deep woods, Appalachian big timber in TN, miles from nearest road or house, freezing my cojones off, and I hear something in the leaves...

@longcruise Same here, Cruiser. Can't remember her name, the ole fat heifer. Told me I should pick a trade school instead of college. But, looking back, I take full blame, because I, too, was bored sh!tless.

Tom, It's no squirrel gun, but in all honesty I have to admit the .54 WR is the best handling longrifle I've ever seen.

19 here. That's dang cold for The Heart Of Dixie. Saw no squirrels around the pecan trees when I took the dog out at daybreak.

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

There's a flintlock guy genetically imbedded deep down in us - in our DNA. It got in there because it was the primary arm of our ancestors from the mid 16th century snaplocks up until the mid 1800's; 300+ years. It's now part of our instinct, sorta like the enjoyable feeling we get when we get a...

That's the way I was taught, also, @snakebit . Unsportsmanlike; sorry behavior. Sorta like shooting a duck in the water, or a dove off of a power line. Of course the gray squirrel is invasive over there. They're not shooting for sport.

I wonder why they even have that row of guns out (on the wall to your immediate right as you come in the door); you can just barely see them in that dark showroom. Why tempt us and keep us from looking/studying? Put them away for crying out loud.

    Dixie Catalog

I picked up one last time I was up there. It has an interesting "dated" feel to it - the way things were before the internet, I guess... Those southern belle ladies minding the front desk are sugar sweet, oh my goodness. I wish that angry owner dude would let me touch and photograph that...

    Old guy camping

@andy52 same here, but my property is 85 miles one way from my residence, and is under constant stream of poachers and vandals. If I could somehow get control of it, I would like to put a little cabin on it.

@Phil Coffins , Very impressive workmanship. I'm just a little older than you, but you got me beat in the muscle department for sure - heck I get all stove up just taking out the trash. This pic is really cool; says it all.
